  1. "Recruits point to a handful of reasons why UCF is gaining on the Bulls locally. No. 1: The facilities, which include an indoor practice facility, private dorm rooms, an on-campus stadium and amenities ranging from pizza shops to a GameStop." - Matt Baker: Tampa Bay Times Just wondering if this is a legitimate concern that mirrors the sentiments of many recruits, or if this is just the reporters spin on the situation?
  2. Better screening of applicants and ultimately less admitted students at both levels. Entering freshman and community college transfers. It's just to convenient to be a part time student when the campus is located in an urban setting where most people grew up. There simply is no need to get in and get out when your parents, friends and family are all here. Most of our students fall into this category. Taking 12 credits during spring and fall and 6 over the summer is very reasonable. Time to grow up, adults dont have summer vacations from obligations.
  3. The money ball argument only works if you win something, and we have never won the big east. At some level then we have to say, you get what you pay for.
  4. I know wikipedia isnt the most reliable site, but it does have a wealth of information used by many people. I had always thought USF was the 8th largest university in the country by enrollment and when you click on the USF page at wikipedia, it says just that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_South_Florida However when you click on that link to view the page listing the largest Univesity campuses by enrollment, we do not make the list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_United_States_university_campuses_by_enrollment It appears that they are not including university systems or universities with multiple physical campuses. USF only makes the list at number 8 based on the largest undergraduate enrollment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_United_States_universities_by_undergraduate_enrollment That is not the list people go by however as UCF is number 1, and UF is number 10. Most people consider USF the 3rd largest univesity in the state. Not that university size truely matters, but it is interesting to see that we are no longer on the lists.
  5. I would give him a solid B, he has made the most of what he had to work with. At this level players and coaches have to execute. If we are giving greater weight to football, most of us seem to agree that our players and coaches have underperformed. My only complaint is the game day experience at Raymond James Stadium which I do feel is under the Universities control to some extent. To me the gameday experience is just bland, regardless of how many people are in the stadium. Home football games are one of the main vehicles which instills university pride, and certainly one of the best means of advertising we have. For the vast majority of people this will be their only experience with USF athletics. There have been posts about this in the past so no need to go into details. We pay people to "put on the show" so I think it is fair game to hold them accountable. Now if they are not under the athletics umbrella, then my bad and it is not Wollards responsibillty. Also if the Glazers are preventing us from doing a lot of things at the stadium, then again my mistake.
