  1. Totally stinks for him, such a hard luck case. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he can maintain his skillset
  2. Are we now 1 and 8 in our last 9 games against FBS opponents? Did Leavitt leave that much off a mess?
  3. Pitt and Syracuse still here. They had to account for loss of TCU.
  4. These announcers are worthless do some homework. USF missed a bowl game last year and has taken a drop in performance under Holtz.
  5. I understand that TCU screwed us, thus the late schedule against Nevada. But was that literally our only option? What did the other Big East teams do?
  6. At what point do you say this is a meaningless game (we are not playing for a national title). We have a quick turnaround against a big east team. Do we get the starters out and not risk injury.
  7. Video feed looks terrible. I have brighthouse HD. Looks like I'm watching this on the Internet.
  8. Just wondering what the history was behind this game against Nevada and the home and home against Ball State. Definite had scratchers for me. It simply may be that we had no other options, and the schedule would have been blank. However, this truly shows where we are in the grand scheme of things. Away games at "Non-BCS" schools, especially one out West is tough to swallow. Does anyone remember Wollard giving an interview about these games? The Nevada game is even worse now as we have to return on a short week and play a very meaningful game against a Big East opponent.
  9. A bunch of freinds and myself went to Denver and Colorado Springs for a bachelor party in June. We are all Florida boys in our early to mid 30's. Everyone is in good shape and exercises regulalry, but nobody is in the condition that a Division 1 Football player should be in. We climbed Pikes Peak in about 6-7 hours, which has an altitude of over 14,000 feet and had no issues. 4,500 feet is higher than what our players are accustomed to but should not pose a significant problem to a conditioned Division 1 athelete. There is a lot of research out there about how to best handle the altitude with regards to timing of competition. I'm sure our coaches have sought guidance, and will have our players prepared.
  10. 1) 8 because it's opening night. Essentially this is preseason. 2) Sun Dolls, cheerleaders looked pudgy at fan fest. (awful I Know, but sex sells) 3) doubtful, if I'm there, it's gonna be a long season. 4) listen yes, call no 5) USF polo shirt, this is business.
  11. 46,666 Announced 36,451 in the seats Gonna make sure that my 6 seats are filled each and every game this year, we have to do our part!
  12. 1) USF 2) 34-17 3) Daniels 4) Davis 5) 406 Trying to be different. Bulls get comfortable lead, Backup quarterbacks take over mid 3rd quarter. Team cruises rest of game.
  13. No Doubt, Big East Championship! Nevada, FSU, and Miami are essentially freebies in my book. We need to make sure we are prepared for Rutgers that Thursday night on the quick turnaround. Beating Loiusville will also be key.
  14. I think I'm looking for things that will foster a sense of community, university pride, and most importantly engage the fans at RJS to give us a true strategic home field advantage. There are some things present at RJS that we have no control over, so at some level we must try even harder than other programs. I personally feel the concourses behind both endzones is a hinderance to fan engagement, they become gathering areas with many fans not even paying attention to the game. A large amount of fans buy $10 seats, with no intention of going up to the 300 level, preferring to hang out in the end zone areas. I love the idea of a live mascot, especially after reading the ESPN the Magazine article on all the live mascots the SEC has. This however seems to not be a possibility at all, and I guess we could ask Texas and Colorado, what their liabilities and costs are. It appears the a Buffalo running on the field would be the same as a trained/docile Bull but I'm no expert in this matter. Ultimately we probably need to drop this wish. I do like the idea of something like a Trojan Bull that the Oracle described. They can make something large enough that can be seen from all aspects of the stadium, and this can be carried out when the team takes the field. It also can be housed on display at the Marshall Center and might become a source of University pride over time. If we are worried about player injuries with carrying the Trojan Bull onto the field we can have Alumni/Special guests volunteeer to carry it out. Also looking into the future it might be cool to have some sort of event when it is carried from the Marshall Center to an OCS on gamedays provided it is close enough. Reading through this thread it appears that each section is doing its own collective thing with regards to rally cries, and singing the fight song. This tells me we need a conductor, the jumbotron is the tool to get everyone in sync. Without the jumbotron conducting its just to hard to get everyone synced up. I'm good with either Green and Gold or South and Florida placed on the jumbrotron at strategic times throughout the game. I just can't see why we do not do this considering that the Bucs already have something like this with Tampa and Bay. How about each time we score a touchdown, we drop the cannons and rap music, and we still have the cheerleaders run the Bulls flags across the field, but let the Band play a quick number, and then have S-O-U-T-H F-L-O-R-I-D-A, South Florida, South Florida, Go Bulllls! appear on the Jumbotron, so the crowd can selectively sing along. Just looking for ways to get the crowd more engaged. Speaking of the Rap, Rock, and Club Music that is played. Its trendy, and needs to be changed over time, its also inherently neutral by nature. So, it fires up the opposing players just as much as ours. This was evident during the West Virginia game when our music was pumping up their players before the kickoffs. You lesson this from happening when our band is playing our fight songs. I do not see why we do not let our band take more of a key role in the music at the stadium. Hopefully its not because of a lack of talent. Lastly, I would do everything economically possible to cover up as much of the Bucs logos and red as we can at the stadium, and make sure that our logos are on the field and endzones for all games. The FSU game will be a sellout I hope they cover up the Bucs red at the front of the 300 sections. Again, these are not the end all be all solutions to our problems, they are just suggestions to improve the atmosphere and get the crowd more engaged. Last year we did not win a Big East home game, and most of them were close. Maybe more fan engagment can pump the players up to make that extra or one big play we need.
  15. Traditions do happen over time but the Univesity and the powers that be have to be on board to make it happen. Without support "Green and Gold" will never appear on the Jumbotron with arrows like Tampa and Bay appear for the Bucs, unless one of us knows somebody who can hack into the system an get it up there. Likewise having a live Bull in the stadium will never have a chance to develop if the minute sombeody shows up with one they get arrested.
  16. About 6 months ago the group Building Tradition at USF was gaining traction and chatter. The general consensus was the USF Football gameday experience was lacking substance, and had little if any fan engagement. Fans offered their suggestions and it was hoped that they would be taken to the powers that be. Just wondering if that group had any success and if we can expect some improvements in the "experience" on gamedays. To me it just seems bland and stale, almost as if they are not trying. But, as a USF fan I want to give these young men and women working in that department the benefit of the doubt and hope some extraneous forces are preventing them from improving the experience and putting USF front and center. I feel the "we are a new program with no traditions" is a lame excuse. Its 2012 everything is manufactured and scripted from the Bachelor to the Kardashians, there are high school programs in this area that have been around for 5 years with more fan engagement, USF is entering its 16th season. Its rather easy for creative people in that line of work, you script everything, from the entrance, to what and when the band plays, to what goes up on the Jumbotron, to what the fans collectively shout and sing. Playing in RJS is also a poor excuse, yes an OCS will improve the college atmosphere, but there are no plans for a stadium at this time so we better get comfortable at RJS. There is a huge opportunity when FSU comes to town, lets hope USF is at the forefront, and the fans are engaged.
  17. 1) Favorite year of USF football? 2007 2) Greatest FG in USF history? Kansas 3) Greatest play in USF history? Grothe to Hester to Beat Auburn 4) Attendance guess for opener? 45,000 Announced 5) If you could only have 1 meal for a year, breakfast or dinner? Dinner
  18. I feel we have the talent to have a great year, but this team has fooled me many times. Based on past performance I predict an 8-4 record. Sat., Sept. 1 UT-Chattanooga (Win) Sat., Sept. 8 at Nevada (Win) Sat., Sept. 15 Rutgers* (Loss) Sat., Sept. 22 at Ball St. (Win) Sat., Sept. 29 Florida St. (Loss) Sat., Oct. 6 at Temple (Win) Sat., Oct. 20 at Louisville (Loss) Sat., Oct. 27 Syracuse (Win) Sat., Nov. 3 UConn (Win) Sat., Nov. 17 at Miami (Loss) Fri., Nov. 23 at Cincinnati (Win) Sat., Dec. 1 Pittsburgh (Win)
  19. I'm a big fan of an eventual on campus stadium but a few comments. Skip Holtz seemed way to politically correct in his interview. Feasibility study means a lot of different things to different people. While we all hope this means they have contracted with an outside firm to crunch some real numbers, this could easily be Judy and Doug riding around in a golfcart with a clipboard and tape measure. He thinks fans are treated to an expceptional experience at RJS. What is he using for his definition of experience? Modern amenities like a club, wide seats, seat backs, and leg room yes. College atmosphere, not at all. He's been around enough programs to see a bland atmosphere. Lets face it, a lot of games can be mistaken for neutral site contests, even if we have the vast majority of fans. RJS is great for the NFL Bucs but not college football. Its covered in bucs colors, to big for our fan base, and the gathering areas in both endzones leads to empty seats and fans more concerned with getting digits then whats going on in the game, this all leads to less fan engagement which does help with a home field advantage. Just seems like he is being PC and rightfully so, he knows RJS is our home for the near future, why knock it. I do think an OCS will lead to more student interest and not simply because of proximity to campus. Right now the action is 12 miles from campus, it essentially happens in another world. However, when 40-50 thousand fans flood the campus on gameday, its hard not to want to be a part of it. Curiosity eventually will get the best of us. The game becomes the social thing to do. Thats how these other universities engrain new fans. We all know kids who never went to a highschool football game, but came back from UF or FSU rabid football fans. Lastly I hope they build a stadium that seats about 45,000 - 50,000 with room to expand. There needs to be some sort of premium on tickets to create a buzz. This is used in every industry. Right now RJS is too big, there is no scarcity of tickets, so no urgency to buy them, or become a season ticket holder. You can pick and chose games, and if your buddy offers them to you, you see if there are better options. If however, we always had sellouts or close to it, people would be more inclined to purchase season tickets. Fans would see the scarcity and want it, and place value in the event. Sold Out is a great marketing weapon. A capacity crowd of 50,000 will look much larger then a crowd of 50,000 with 15,000 empty seats, even if the attendance is the same, its these little things that does win some recruits.
  20. Would have been nice to have had him, if this is a case of bad advice then it's a sad story. However, if he was terrible academically and wanted no business with being a student then I guess this was right for him. I'll try and give benefit of doubt to the latter.
  21. Given UCF's OCS and associated sales from tickets, parking, and concessions, does anybody know what kind of revenue they take in on a typical gameday? How does that compare to us once we settle our obligations with the TSA and Glazers?
