Sellouts are few and far between, there will be a lot of people at RJS for the game this Saturday, and most will be rooting for the opposing team. The writing is on the wall, USF athletics must know this. There will be a lot of garnet and gold in that stadium, aerial shots could potentially be embarassing for our University and used by our Central Florida neighbors to show recruits our lack of fanbase and atmosphere. Any effort at all to get the fanbase to wear green to combat this? Any special plans using the Jumbotron to get the USF fans involved in the game? Anything at all...................

I don't want Skip saying we were beat by a great catch. You should have not been in that place to begin with.

In fact, why don't we sell our FSU tickets and use the money for multiple billboards...........

Regardless of what happens today. If we cannot buy him out at least the alumni can send a message. A billboard is not that expensive. A few hundred bucks each and a group can get one up by fowler. Wonder what clear channel and CBS charges? I'll contribute.

While this season can certainly be salvaged a lot of us see trends with no signs of change. We have all realized that at this point in our history our program is going to make its mark by competing and winning a conference title. Therefore the only games that truely matter are Big East games. We have 1 BiG East win in the last 2 years, and have not won a Big East home game since 2010. Beating FSU would be a great source of pride but other than that it won't do much. I don't really see it landing us any better recruits, that did not happen when we beat them a couple of years ago. We look at the changing landscape of college footbal and see ourselves on the outside looking in, this further makes the downturn hard to swallow. I look at the other schools that play in off campus NFL stadiums and see that they are strugling with attendance and game day experience. It appears that this model does not work, just like multipurpose stadiums out in the suburbs which are now extinct. We now have the only public FBS school in the state without an OCS. We've seen what our neighbors in Orlando have done, and while we may not want their stadium we collectively agree that their atmosphere is much better for college football. I do not want to be surpassed by UCF. We are terrible at home the last couple of years, we have no home field advantage, we essentially play 6-7 neutral site games a year. FSU game could almost be considered neutral site for all intensive purposes. I would be embarassed to take recruits to games at RJS, when the crowds a spread out all over the stadium, and there is no engagement. I personally worry that USF is lacking a clear vision and strategy for the future, and once they put one into place we will have fallen further behind other schools in this state.

I agree completely we were given a gift by the Big East because of our potential for growth, we have not done anything to solidify that choice. We deserve to be exactly where we are in the conference shakeup. Look at the lists of the largest universities, all of them except USF and UCF are in so called "power conferences" Given the size and resources of our University its not a stretch to think we would have a marginal Division 1 football team after 16 years, so what have we done beyond that?

Not trying to start a firestorm, but if the Big 12 would like to expand into Florida, who's to say USF is that much better a candidate than UCF. After a couple years playing in the Big East, and especially at the rate Holtz is going UCF will be our equals. I know its hard for us to accept but, how far ahead of them are we really? How does the Orlando TV market compare? Whats their growth potential? How do the Universities compare regarding Academics, Quality of Sports, Facilities, Alumni, etc??

I need someone to take off their green and gold goggles for a second and give an honest assessment. The other day I was speaking with a former USF Athlete. He said that 10 years ago our collection of athletic facilities was atrocious as compared to other universities, I'm sure we all agreed. He notes that the upgrades are significant and now put us as middle of the road Big East. He said however, that our overall collection would be at the bottom of a conference like the ACC. He noted that some schools have spent more money on football only facilities than we spent on the athletic center that houses all sports. Just curious how we do compare, and was looking for the opinion from somebody who has had the opportunity to see the facilities at other universities.

I'll agree with this 50%, USF Athletics and the TSA have to also be on board to create an environment that fosters a better atmosphere. They have done nothing to give a sense that they care.

Hit it exactly on the head, football is the only event that can bring this volume of people to the campus. You want people returning and bringing their families, that's a way to instill university pride, and make the next generation bulls fans. Even Skip says this all the time when asked about an OCS.

Agree completly about fans hanging out in the end zones. What would be the feasibility of roping off these areas during game action and allowing people to only go to concession areas in the far back? You would instantly create more fans in seats and have more people engaged in the game.

Extension of Holtz seems like a poor choice now, hindsight is always 20 / 20. Problem is, there does not seem to be a reprucussion for Doug. If I buy an expensive piece of equipment that turns out to be useless, or if I get into a bad lease agreement, my ass is gonna be in hot water from my superiors.

This is nonsense, but we can always dream. Just wondering if we would have had a legit chance of landing Charlie Strong had CJL been fired right away and Strong was still availalble? Wondering if USF would have went after him and if he would have even considered this program? Louisville has 15 Florida players on their roster, wonder if he could have swayed Bridgewater to come our way from Miami. Ohhhh the possibilities. Its a shame the Leavitt situation took so long to unfold...................

I know, they are a relatively small private university ( when compared to state schools) and they have seen better days. But this is not a good endorsement for playing in an off campus nfl stadium.

Watching Louisville thrash UNC. Not only do they have a more talented football team, their entire product from fan base to stadium atmosphere blows us away. Other then our TV market, and opening up Florida to recruiting. (both big ifs) What do we bring to a power conference? USF is in an appropriate conference for our product and following.......

Agreed actual attendance is hardly ever near lower bowl capacity. Make the lower bowl a better atmosphere, try to get the crowd more involved. Let the players feel the energy. Put a premium on tickets. Accept that the program has regressed. None of this scattered fans around the stadium and multiple pockets of empty seats in the lower bowl.

Its been almost 2 years since USF has beat a BCS School at home, the last victory came against Rutgers on 11/3/10. In fact, that has been Skip's only home victory against a BCS program during his tenure. In the early days we used to be good at home...............This does nothing in terms of building a fan base. Most schools enjoy some home field advantage. I know poor coaching, execution, lack of talent, but the environment sucks too!

I don't blame Doug or Judy for all this conference shuffling and USF getting left out, all the so called winners in this war are established programs. My anger returns to all the USF presidents and hippie professors who were dead set against football for all those years. They failed to realize the football is an extension of the marketing department and the front porch of the University. If USF began playing football in the 1960s our fan base and donor support would be significantly greater. We probably would of had some form of an on-campus stadium, and its hard to imagine that we would not have established rivalries with either UF, FSU, and Miami and most importantly we would probably have been offered ACC membership during their early rounds of expansion. (In my opinion our best and natural home to eventually land our program) USF Football is just 15 years old. We have really not done anything spectacular. We were at the time one of if not the largest public universities without a football program. We also do not have a history of strong academics that would hold athletics back, so rising to Division 1 and having marginal success is not that great of a feat. We have a lot of potential and room for growth.

Big 10 has made it clear they only want AAU institutions, in fact they had stated that Nebraska would not have been admitted had they known they would be dropped from the AAU. With that in mind Rutgers would be a candidate but UConn would not.
