Our conference will be amazing if we don't get in...picture this:
East: Temple, USF, UCONN, UMass, ECU, FAU
West: Charlotte, SMU, Tulane, FIU, Tulsa, Navy
Now that is a powerhouse conference!
I would be worried if he didn't know this was going on...he is in charge of what 15 players?! Surely he would have noticed that a few players had grade problems that suddenly went away...and the allegations are against his brother. Either he has his head in the sand or he knew about it.
My wife and I have stuck in there so far through the tough years. Many fans didn't. The AAC turned out to not be such a bad conference after all...if they took CIncy, UCONN, Houston, and Memphis, it will be very bad.
If it turns out that USF screwed this up and loses out on the Big 12 invite and the conference gets raided...I believe that i'm done...essentially game over for the aspirations of the program. Such a USF thing to do. They give us one day of hope and then the ship is back on the rocks.
Only two scenarios work for us: 1) We get into the Big 12 2.) they take only Colorado St. and BYU and leave the American in tact. We absolutely cannot be stuck in a depleted American.
With only 1 commitment on the board, I have to think that Tags is taking some big shots at top talent right now. Probably waiting for some of the big schools to fill up so that we can nab them.
Northern Illinois scares me a bit this year also I expect SMU to be much improved and at Temple to be extremely tough. Cincinnati is a toss up this year. Overall I predict 9-3 record.
This is not devastating news to us. We likely would not have gone to the BIG 12 this expansion and we would be stuck in an even more watered down conference. I think the AAC has quite a bit of potential as it is and I think the league will only continue to grow from a perception stand point in the near future.
If we go undefeated we better be in the playoff. We have a strong strength of schedule (7 bowl teams) and a top 10 in FSU and likely another top 10 in Houston in the AAC Championship game. I don't see how they could keep us out unless they just basically say screw you G5 you can't ever make the playoffs.
If we don't make it,what four teams will the AAC add? I think you have to go with Marshall for the West Virginia TV market and it will be a big draw for when they come to Ray Jay. LA Tech who is an up and coming program with a big name coach. Ohio U. for recruiting purposes and to keep the Ohio market, and finally Charlotte U. with the large Charlotte market.
