  1. That's the answer. Been married for over 35 years. There is no "owing". Give your wife the concert while acting like a grownup. Don't even mention it. When football starts interfering with your marriage, a reevaluation is needed. It's my Bulls and I love watching them but it's not even close to the way I feel about my wife. Sounds like it's your turn to give. Do it with a smile.
  2. Now, THIS gets me stoked! Great news for the program! Why would you even think that? Bulls Keep Breaking Records in the Classroom By TOM ZEBOLD USF Senior Writer TAMPA - Skip Holtz ends just about every USF football practice by stressing the importance of the Bulls performing well in the classroom. The Bulls responded by wrapping up the spring semester with a program-record 37 student-athletes with a 3.0 grade point average or better. USF also set a new top mark with a semester GPA of 2.76 that surpassed the previous program record of 2.64 set in the fall of this school year. "It speaks volumes for these players and the way that they have bought in. I'm seeing the culture change," Holtz said. "Building a championship is a way of life. It's not about just winning a couple of games. It's doing well academically, making good social decisions and being accountable on the field. I feel really good about where we're going right now." The Bulls have been heading in the right direction academically since Holtz took over as head coach with the team GPA increasing each semester since the spring of 2011. The number of GPAs of 3.0 or better also has risen each semester from 25 in the fall of 2010 all the way up to the new program record set this spring. "I feel like we're really healthy right now as a program," Holtz said. "Not just physically, but academically we're on a very sound foundation." The recipe for success under Holtz all starts with the recruits the program is bringing in according to Jason Linders, USF's assistant athletic director for student-athlete development. "We're bringing in better student-athletes here; better character, better all-around young people," said Linders, who became a Bull in the summer of 2009. "Coach Holtz is a big program guy and it's not about how many stars (a recruit) has behind a name." USF's academic support system certainly has helped recruits stay on the track to success once they join the program. According to Linders, "our support staff does a great job of holding our guys accountable, continuing to preach to our guys about taking ownership in their education. We have comprehensive academic plans for each student-athlete and if they follow them, they should enjoy academic success." The Bulls have decreased their dropped classes total by 47 percent since Linders took over and a tiered study hall system has made the team eager to reach new heights. Players used to be able to avoid study hall if they had a 2.5 GPA, but the minimum requirement was raised to 2.75, which allows a student to major in any academic program offered at the university. "I think guys are competing in the classroom like they do on the field," Linders said. Post above a 3.0 and a player can get recognized on the Big East All-Academic team, as well as in front of the entire program at the annual banquet at the end of each season. It's a simple gesture, but it goes a long way when a Bull stands up to receive an award in front of his team, family and friends. "What guy doesn't want to hear his name called and get a little bit of recognition?" Linders said. Another notable aspect of USF's academic support system is its goal of making sure players succeed after they've left school early to pursue a career in athletics. Linders has put a priority on strengthening USF's degree completion program by getting out to alumni functions and spreading the word that the Bulls encourage former players to come back to school and finish up no matter how long they've been away. Linders helped four players graduate during his first year and the number has grown to 15 with many more in the mix at this point. "The big picture is you're helping these guys change their lives and have an opportunity to be successful in life after sports," Linders said.
  3. When our legislators build themselves legacies with such impunity it shows that they hold themselves accountable to no one. Our voice no longer matters at the state and federal level. No one is listening. JD Alexander is an in-your-face bully and no one has the cajones to stand up to him. This governor is as bad as the other legislators. April 19, 1775 - it's getting to be time for the people to be heard again.
  4. I bookmarked it and will use it if the occasion arises.
  5. DUMP GOL NOW!! Worst move UCF made was to give him his "Me Too" contract after Leavitt got his extension. O'Leary laughs at UCF everytime he goes to the bank. He doesn't give a rat's @ss about your program. Go get Christobal from FIU. I want you guys to be good. But forget it with GOL at the helm.
  6. UCF cuts five programs including an MIS and Engineering track. Putting the YOU in U Can't Finish!
  7. Yep! So far it appears we've got more figured out than you! I think we regroup and shock the world.* Why? Next week are you going to lose by 60?.... That can't be it. It wouldn't shock the world.
  8. Don't have it all figured out yet. We're only ranked #10 in the nation.
  9. DP, you are probably the best knights fan that comes on here, but the rivalry doesn't exist outside of a dozen fans who don't get out enough. Didn't GOL admit that his players don't see this as a rivalry? Someone posted that he did, but I didn't see a citation for it. Anyway, that dog won't hunt. Time for both schools to move on. I have frequently stated that UCF needs to stop relying on USF for its identity. Maybe your conference championship will help. Seriously, if this were a rivalry, we would be playing each other every year. Most fans at USF are more excited about playing Miami every year.
  10. I suggest both parties doing a keyboard push-off and get outside. Becoming this obsessed about anything is not good. Frankly, I have found the company of a female to be preferable to these petty obesssions. Maybe both posters should try it.
  11. Whoa there buddy - once could rationalize some things about your identity as it relates to UCF based on your large assertions. Did you even read that thread? Sounds like most of the UCF fans, if not all, are taking a "wait and see" attitude since the original poster could not provide anything more than "I saw it on TV" - which leaves room for error on the original posters end. Yes, I read the thread. Did you compare the times of my post here with their responses? When I posted here there was only one response on your board and it was buying the "news", as is usual. There really are too many examples of UCF fans taking any hint of wrongdoing/negative about USF and gleefully embracing, believing, and spreading it to argue with you about. Like I said, pitiful.
  12. Freakin' Gloden Knights will believe anything negative about USF and amplify it 100 times. They are so obsessed it is pitiful. Without us, they have no identity whatsoever.
  13. Poor girl. She looks so cold...
  14. I've got friends who lives in Clanton, which is about 45 minutes north of Montgomery. I will drive up and stay with them. My son, who is in the Navy, is thinking about meeting us there!
  15. Grouper, Don't get your green and gold glasses get in the way. First if they 18 year old girl gets drunk, drives home and gets into a wreck. Instant lawsuit against the Bull Ring AND Matt; not to mention the criminal aspects. So yes, it is a BIG deal in that aspect. They weren't making a freaking name, they probably didn't even know who he was. They were just hitting up a bar that had a liquor license on file with them. Yes, when in hindsight it isn't a big deal, but it very well could have been. Your comments are absurd. I'm witcha, joe. Funny how people get to pick and choose what laws they want enforced. A screw up is a screw up. Man up and own it and get on with your life. Makes me worry about how those who cry foul (don't the cops have better things to do yadda yadda) are raising thier kids. Wait, I've seen their kids...there is no wonder.
  16. 9-4 at worst. So I am going with the worst. But seeing you guys' predictions I can't wait for 130 more days to be gone. I am so glad I became a season ticket holder! GOT MINE! GOT YOURS???
  17. Welcome to the brotherhood, crambone! This is only my second season as a sth, but I will never give them up. Never!
  18. In his first season, if he can effectively take the heat off of Grothe by running well enough that Matt doesn't have to I will be satisfied. If the defense doesn't know which one to watch, I will be happy. Gotta protect Matt. Second season on, I expect big things.

  20. 8th You go, little bro.  You can do it if you are willing to work for it.  Get all the help you can and don't be afraid to ask.  I moved around a lot and have gone to five or six different colleges.  I can tell you that THERE IS NOTHING LIKE BEING A BULL!!!
  21. Who has ever called CJL too harsh? This was the expected punishment.... nothing.  While it's certainly fitting for a minor, and first time, infraction such as this, it's the typical response. With a grand total of 25 posts you probably weren't around for the discussion last season about the six game suspensions. Calm down and lay back. See the lay of the board. A lot happened before you got here.
  22. A good and proportionate response. Should quiet those critics who have labeled CJL as too harsh. Once again, he made me proud to call him my coach.
