  1. I was so vociferous about this after last year's UCF game (read: showed my butt here) that I self-banned until today. But there may be merit to the assertion that CWT is not the coach we need. Problem is - it is too early to be fair about it. So, we will see.
  2. Golden, I have been to every game but this one. My disability (mobility) kept me from this one, although it killed me to miss it. I have a BA from USF and a MS from UCF, although I am a Bull through and through. At the first three games I was mortified at the behavior of UCF fans (once against a pregnant USF lady that I witnessed) but the last one - at UCF I was delighted at how we were treated at BHSN stadium. I rarely saw USF fans misbehave and when I did I corrected them. But what I witnessed from UCF fans first hand (at the first three games) caused me to have no doubts about which team I would root for. With my wife along with me I could not fathom the treatment that UCF fans would dish out. Your fans are your own worst enemies and I would council your AD to address that. You have seen it in the youtube.com video of how Texas elderly were treated and UCF fans were proud of it. It has since been taken down. I am glad I couldn't go to this one. I expected the same from your fans, unfortunately.
  3. I'll give you that, Mike. It's just that the long in the tooth fans are kind of spoiled with great quarterbacks coming up from no where. It would be great if White were the "One". We just need a team around him. Shaw looks good...
  4. You are absolutely right (except some McDaniels games). Seems like some noobys don't realize how awesome USF football has been. We have been on the downhill slide for a while and I am not going to call a three point loss a "victory". Bad execution, bad talent, and bad coaching. I have two hats hanging in my Man Cave. One signed by Leavitt and one signed by Ben Moffit. These teams recently aren't be worthy of hanging up the jock straps of PBS. If these kids even remember who PBS was.
  5. Ok. I guess we just need to agree that it is beyond you.
  6. After watching Grothe and McDaniels I guess I expect a lot more. I've also watched Julmiste so I am not altogether disillusioned. I would like to see a lot of more competition at that position.
  7. We call that "hindsight" and misattribute later results to former results. Having kicked the field goal would not have necessarily led to the same outcome. With the only results we know for sure, it would have been a tied game. There is a reason why there is an old sage, "never take points off of the board".
  8. Ok. maybe you are right and we shouldn't have kicked the FG. How did that work out for you? I love people who argue with results.
  9. Yes, Trip, I realize that, but help me understand why the timing matters. I was shouting at the time, not later, that we should go for the field goal.
  10. Ok, let me put it a more cerebreally. Had we chosen to kick the field goal (which was, statistically, a more assured positive result) and not chosen to attempt a fourth and 2 (which, with a 120th ranked offense not as so assured attempt) we might be in a better position to secure a tie which might afford us a chance at a victory. Good?
  11. Let me clarify...He is not THE ONE. His choice of going with running a 120th ranked offense instead of a 1st ranked FG kicker is bush league. That should clear it up for you guys.
  12. Really? it was a call at the time not later. You have one of the nation's worst offenses and the best field goal kickers and it is a mystery why anyone would rather kick it? I think it is a mystery why anyone would ask for anything different.
  13. Oh, BULLSHIRT. Taggart lost that game for us tonight, **** it! He is not THE ONE.
  14. Let's call it was it was...a total f up by taggart by not kicking the fg.
  15. Total Asswhole!!!! Can't believe he gave up a tie field goal with the nation leading field goal kicker!! Total asswhole!!
  16. Thanks to all other veterans. I'd like to single out RJDriver, who is still serving. USAF, 1975-79 Crew Chief, AC-130H Gunship
  17. Relax. Were we to lose this month, all they can say is "The fifth time's the charm". We would have to lose to them in the next four games in a row for it to be even. It is going to be a long time before they even up this series. Until then, it is all spin. And the being ahead academically is apples to oranges. They may have better stats in undergrad (maybe, I'm not looking it up) but to me, the real value in a university is in the grad programs and the research, patents, and money brought into the school and community. USF excels in these criteria. I have a degree from each school. I'll take USF any day.
  18. This feeling is great. It has been a while.
  19. Congrats, coach. Let's see some more. I know it takes time, but this happened before I expected so I am happy with it.

  21. Some from my favorite social philosopher, G.K. Chesterton (29 May 1874 – 14 June 1936): "My country, right or wrong," is a thing that no patriot would think of saying except in a desperate case. It is like saying, "My mother, drunk or sober." Beware of no man more than yourself; we carry our worst enemies within us. Don't ever take a fence down until you know the reason it was put up. Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another. Fallacies do not cease to be fallacies because they become fashions. I believe in getting into hot water; it keeps you clean. I owe my success to having listened respectfully to the very best advice, and then going away and doing the exact opposite. It is not bigotry to be certain we are right; but it is bigotry to be unable to imagine how we might possibly have gone wrong. The people who are the most bigoted are the people who have no convictions at all. To have a right to do a thing is not at all the same as to be right in doing it. The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried.
  22. Green!! I'll be watching the game through the blue of the Bud Light Platinum bottle. That'll help...
  23. Do you think he would return after DW AND Judge Judy are gone? And Bulliever, I loved the post. Also, how much would coaching for San Fran help him in the season fades?
  24. Of course you are right, slick, but their fans, man, their fans...for the record, I predicted three wins. I hope I am as wrong as i usually am!
  25. We've lost too many experienced players, have a new coach, and a new system. We need to have patience and build for long term. The recruits, in my opinion, won't come until HS players believe we are for real and that will take a while. My biggest fear is that we will lose to UCF and that could very well happen. After which, I will be found in a gutter on Florida ave. Drinking Ripple from a paper bag.
