  1. So instead of going to Birmingham. Birmingham would come to Tampa. Hmm for some reason that does not seem like a good idea.
  2. Looking for a hotel in downtown Houston. Any recommendations?
  3. The same type of chaos happened last year around this time. 10/13/2017 Clemson lost to Syracuse.
  4. I would be most concerned if UNC Head Coach Larry Fedora gets fired this year.
  5. If they do most people outside of Amherst and the Bay area won't see it.
  6. The team will get better as the season progresses. That is the only deja vu that I see at this point. Flowers improved significantly from Week 0 San Jose State to the Bowl game again Texas Tech. Even the special teams improved during that time period. I am expecting the same pattern this year. It is also worth noting that once we get around the RB injuries, the running game will be significantly improved from the running backs position when compared to last year.
  7. The defense has given up 2 TDs in 2 games. Both TDs were in the 1st quarter. Also the defense has given up a total of 0 points in the 4th quarter
  8. The key take away is Flowers' passing got better as the season progressed. I attribute that to Flowers being more familiar with the system and the OC Gilbert being more familiar with Flowers. Not to mention the trust between the QB and the WRs, TEs and RBs. I anticipate and expect the same improvement with Barnett. All the pieces will come together.
  9. He suffered a hamstring injury against Westen Illinois. So he did not play today.
  10. Keep in mind he has only been with the team since the summer and was not taking all the 1st team reps. Time is needed to build trust between the WRs, TEs and RBs and adjust the offense to everyone's skill set. Go back to last year and compare Q. Flowers passing at San Jose compared to UCF and Texas Tech. I anticipate a similar progression this year both passing and running the ball with RBs. I will say that Blake needs to get better at protecting himself and the ball when he runs.
  11. If AJ Bush played at QB today for Illinois it would have been a different story. He is a better runner than Rivers and has more experience.
  12. The roughing the passer on Khalid McGee was not a good call. McGee was going for the waist but the QB jumped and he hit the QB in the legs as he was completing his throwing motion. That led to an Illinois FG from the 26 yard line. Bear in mind that was after USF had the illegal participation penalty on 4th down when Illinois as punting the ball.
  13. Temple defeated Maryland 35- 14. UConn beats URI (Rhode Island) in a shootout. 62-49
  14. Crockrite appeared to be nursing the ankle during the GA Tech game. I think Sands will play a lot during this game. We might get to see Mack run as well.
  15. USF 38-17 Sands St Felix 515 Would like to go with Cronkrite at RB but I don't think the ankle is right yet. Mack should get a few carries. Wilcox will have 1 TD.
  16. Of all the things Johnson complained about I think he missed that USF had 12 players on the field during the untimed down. Not that it would have changed the outcome of the game.
  17. I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with the rush defense. The first two teams USF played are run oriented teams. So the averages may be "jacked-up" a bit especially after playing GA Tech. But I believe the rush defense will be okay. This weekend will be a good test. I mentioned this in another post. USF's defense has seen 106 rush plays compared to 30 passing plays. And an example of how misleading stats can be, one can say 10% of the time when teams pass the ball USF gets an interception.
  18. Guess who is Illinois offensive coordinator? https://fightingillini.com/coaches.aspx?rc=935&path=football For those who don't know Rod was USF's offensive coordinator back in 2005- 2006. He was the OC when USF went to Morgantown and beat #7 West Virginia. Then at the end of the season, Rich Rod snatched up Rod Smith from USF. Bear in mind Rich and Rod and worked together in the past.
  19. Through the first two games, USF has faced a massive amount of rushing plays compared to passing to the likes of 106 to 30 respectively. Therefore I feel comfortable in saying there is a healthy bit of experience playing the run, I won't go as far as to say we are good at stopping the run. So the question will be how well will USF's defense play against the pass. USF totaled 7 punts through the first 2 games. Against Western Illinois, Illinois punted 8 times and 5 times against Kent State. Although the game against Ga Tech was up and down. I suspect that USF's offense is somewhat with further analysis I would attempt to calculate the number of scoring drives relative to offensive possessions. With that said, I think USF's offense may open up a bit this weekend especially the pass. Kent State threw for 270 and WIU threw for 295. IMO USF has better receivers than Kent and WIU. I thinking this game may be WR showcase if Illinois sells out to stop the run.
  20. If a Coach Woodie defense could stop a good Navy offense for 2.5 quarters as the Gulf Coast Offense ran wild then I believe a Coach Jean-Mary defense can manage a decent Georgia Tech offense for 4 quarters. The appearance of a legit USF passing attack will present problems for GA Tech's young secondary under a new defensive coordinator. USF wins this game.
