  1. Ehhh....it's the same 2-3 morons who don't know a lick about the game that ***** non-stop who are blowing things up. This team is still find if the defense can improve just a little bit. I still see 11-1 regular season with a hardest games being road games against Cincy and Memphis. So maybe 10-2 with us losing one of those. As long as we beat Temple on the road and Cincy loses one more conference game (vs us or someone else)...we are golden
  2. Did we or did we not put up 35 points? I know which one of us right and which one of us is talking out his rear end. Care to fess up?
  3. Did QF bang your daughter or something? We put up 35 points on a FSU defense and lost yet you put the loss on our QB...why?
  4. Expect the offense gave you a 7-0 lead before you even stepped on the field, and then when you **** the bed back, the offense covered you again, only for you to **** the bed yet a second time in the first 5 min. This game is on the horrible defense....period.
  5. Sadly....early second quarter you could see it in QF...He's been a gamer these past 12 games on the level of Grothe with more talent...but today...I think the pressure got to him for the first time. He looked timid and scared like he did the first 4 games of last year.
  6. Cincy has always been the game that scared me the most...win or lose...between coming off this game and going on the road for a revenge game for them.....get your heads on straight cause the conference is still very much in play. The offense put up 30+ points yet again, so the DL needs to wash the sand out of their v-jajas and get ready to play to win. Win this game on the road against Cincy and I think the division is ours.
  7. To me, it was when they made it 14-14....it basically put ALL the pressure on the offense. It said, hey guys that just scored 2 TD in the first 4 min....you need to carry us, cause we ain't stopping no one. Completely disappointed in Woodie as it looked like a Skip Holtz defense out there playing to not lose, rather than attacking..attacking...attacking...like what has worked for us over the last dozen games
  8. Looks like someone asked MHVer if that ment UCF was out, and he said Yes according to what he's hearing. So no oversight. Still doesn't mean he isn't 100% full of **** as far as a prediction goes.
  9. FSU has a huge game next week against a very very good Louisville team. They could easily lose next week. Hoping they don't, because Bama also has a very difficult game against Ole Miss next week ( a team thats beat them the last 2 years). There's a slim chance FSU could be #1 when they visit if things fall right.
  10. I think what upsets people, is there was no need to even get into attendance in this article. It's the constant need by local writers to somehow dump on USF no matter how good they are doing. Why couldn't the article simply have been "USF is a fun team to watch right now", and kept it to talking about the explosive offense, the string of home victories, etc... Why even get into attendance when that wasn't what the bulk of the article was about? I mean I can think of about a dozen different articles (Bronson's big game, Tice/Johnson stepping up in Macks absence, long string of regular season dominance USF has shown, Flowers biggest game passing of his career, awesome student section, etc...) that could be written after this game, and maybe some of them were (I refuse to give them clicks at this point to check it out), but dumping on attendance at this point is unoriginal.
  11. Cincy has to face Houston, so one there + one of (if not both) road games against UConn and Temple. Don't think Cincy is better than us, but combo revenge/road game/after FSU, just think its a "trap" game for us.
  12. Havent see one of these and the search function brought up nothing, so with less than 2 weeks to the season, thought I start one: My realistic (somewhat optimistic) take: Towson - win 41-17- Kean plays most of second half - win not as big as FAMU last year - but comfortable warm up game for USF (1-0) NIU - win 34 - 20 - slow start keeps game close but run game lets us get out in front in the 3rd quarter and cruise to win (2-0) Syracuse - win 38-17 - Cuse wants revenge, but new coach, poor team just does not have enough to compete with motivated team looking to go undefeated until next weeks big game (3-0) FSU - loss 20-24 - we make this a scary game for FSU, but defense allows them to control the clock and late USF TD too little to late to pull off the upset (3-1) Cincy - loss 31-34 - Cincy was a better team than they showed last year - they want revenge - at home - against a disappointed USF team from the previous week - we fall just short after digging ourselves a hole from sluggish start (3-2, 0-1) ECU - win 34-13 - USF rights the ship against a rebuilding and struggling ECU team - take out a few aggressions from the past 2 weeks on them and get out in front early (4-2, 1-1) UConn - win 27-17 - USF keeps things rolling in the right direction - close physical game, but we control the clock and UConn's slow prodding offense can't keep up with the scoring (5-2, 2-1) Temple - win 27-24 - close hard fought game that is essentially the defacto division championship game - must win here and we squeak it out having more offensive weapons then they do (6-2, 3-1) Navy - win 27 - 13 - Navy lost a lot of talent on offense, we get a revenge win and keep momentum moving in the right direction (7-2, 4-1) Memphis - win 38-20 - Revenge win back to back as our offense rolls on a rebuilding Memphis who's new QB makes too many mistakes (8-2, 5-1) SMU - win 48-17 - Team starts truly hitting stride like last year and cruises to win verse a still very bad SMU team (9-2, 6-1) UCF - win 37-20 - game's a little more difficult than last year, but team still rolls and is never truly threatened knowing a division title and possible conference title is on the line (10-2, 7-1) Conf Title Game v #9 Houston - loss 31-37 - back and forth game that might depend on who has the ball last - we just miss the mark this season (10-3) St Pete Bowl - v Va Tech - win 34-20 - team doesn't let disappointment reign and beats a lesser ACC opponent to finish (11-3) with a final ranking in the Top 20 Season hinges on Temple game, as they avoid Houston and Navy in the other division and would need to lose an additional conference game than us to make up for the head to head loss There is a dream playoff scenario this season as we might likely have 3 key components work for us with a game against a top 10 P5 (FSU), a conference regular season game against a ranked team (Temple could possibly be 7-0 when facing us), and a conference title game against a top 10 team (UH). Would need a lot to happen (beat FSU and have them stay in the top 15 by season end, Temple upset PSU, and UH run the conference table and beat either OKL or Louisville). As a G5, we don't hold our fate in our own hands, so several different scenarios are needed to even have a remote chance. Luckily those scenarios might present themselves and it will just depend on us taking care of our business. For the TL:DR crowd - final season record 11-3 (loss in conference title game - win in st pete bowl)
  13. Rumors seem to be leaning towards them adding 4 teams, and will happen fairly quickly (in next 3 weeks or so). So putting my tin foil hat on..... I think the timing between Memphis's released statement (one that seems to indicate they know they aren't getting in), USF's recanting on saying something this week and going silent, and the sudden explosion in recruiting, actually bodes well for us and hints at something going on (or already done) behind the scenes. I still believe if they expand to 12 (both UCF and us are left out), but if they expand by 14, both USF and UCF are in. I'm thinking it will end up being BYU/CIncy/UCF/USF
  14. I think Cincy is a guarantee, partly to appease WVU with a travel partner. Which means, if they stick to only 12, we are 99% likely on the outside looking in (the other slot going to Memphis/UConn/or possibly BYU). I think if they go to 14, then they double down in Florida and grab both us and UCF. Wonder what will become of the AAC if Cincy/UConn/USF/UCF are all stolen? Shrink back down to 10 teams with one division? Or expand again with FAU/FIU/NIU/etc....
  15. Well, just saw on Twitter, rumors floating that NIU, WKU, La Tech and Southern Miss contacted by AAC for possible expansion. So apparently they are being proactive expecting a loss of 2-4 teams. Can't say I'm too excited about any of those teams if we get left behind.
  16. It simply doesn't make sense to me that more teams wouldn't be on board with expansion. I can understand Texas being against it, but TCU/Kansas St/Iowa St/Baylor/WVU (and possibly Okie St/Texas Tech) all stand to lose big time if the conference folds. There's no life raft for those teams and they'll be stuck seeking out the AAC or MWC. Expanding to 12 teams doesn't really change anything if they'd like to still try to pry away teams from the ACC in 4-5 years (which I doubt happens).
  17. I personally think its who ever is whispering sweet nothings into the Big12 ears with more $$$. ESPN likely wants to keep FOX out of Florida so they are pushing the Big12 towards Cincy and BYU/UConn (as back up if BYU can't be worked out), while FOX likely wants into Florida bad and is pushing the UCF/USF combo.
  18. I think the opposite. The Big 12 can't survive long term with just 10 teams. The gap between them and the other P5 will only widen. They have by far the smallest footprint of any of the P5 conferences and are not setup for either bigger contracts on cable, or for expanding on an online streaming service. They need a bigger footprint, more markets, and a wider conference fan-base.
  19. Personally, I'd go with a better Houston. A solid top 25 Houston to face in the AAC title game is good for us. Memphis and Navy will both take a step back, so need Houston to keep rolling in the west.
  20. Too funny that he had to backtrack after that board gave him a mini-revolt. I'll never get his holier-than-thou approach. This is football we are talking about, not national economic policy. His continue demeaning of this board, and then his own board for not meeting his level of "intelligent" conversation is laughable. I'll fully admit to reading some of his V5 stuff, but there was nothing especially in-depth, hi-brow or what I would consider extremely "intelligent" football talk in any of his articles/posts. He's basically just another message board poster with a bigger microphone. If he was laying down articles on the difficulties or advantages of recruiting to Tom Allen's 4-2-5 defense in Florida, or a statistical breakdown of playcalling from first half of the games to second half and seeing if strategies changed, or varies other topics that require a more indepth intelligent look, well he might have a point or a leg to stand on. He's not though. He's just an egotistical blowhard spouting somewhat well written message board opinions. Its great that he's a USF fan, but if his intent is to divide and demean fellow fans, well then I hope 247 sinks along with him.
  21. I always find it funny that a lot of the same posters who constantly want to remind the overly zealous optimistic fans to be "cautious" or that we could lose, are the same people that will go Level 10 blowhard talking about fire and brimstone for the program, and firing everyone, any time we do lose. I would assume this level of "caution" should/would work both ways, like letting the season play out, before talking about running someone out of town, sadly it doesn't seem to work that way.
  22. This really shouldn't be a question, its Big 12 all day long. Even overlooking the money, its a lot easier to build and excite a fan base over Texas, Oklahoma, Okie State, Kansas St, WVU on the home schedule over ECU, Temple, SMU, Memphis, etc.... Think 2007 level of excitement all over again. Thats also not getting into better bowl alignments (even outside the playoff aspect), larger visiting fan-bases, and more legitimacy on a national media level. Even if the AAC were considered a P6, it would just be the Big East all over again, with media slighting our conference every chance they get. Now ideally its the Big 12 with a closer rival (and yes, some may gag over this, but UCF with us would be great).
  23. Yep, last 3 games, we've outscored opponents 106-16 in the first half. Don't get much more dominant or "hot" than that.
  24. First, I'm assuming anyone commenting in this thread isn't actually playing Thursday night, so no amount of confidence or bravado shown on here will have any bearing on the actual game whatsoever. Second, I'm going to assume those who are "worried" about this game in any manner haven't watched UCF a whole bunch this year. They are bad, awful epic-ally bad. And to make matters worse, their biggest weaknesses (OL, defensive tackling/DL) play to our strengths. If Holmann plays partially injured this game, he's a sitting duck. They have no run game whatsoever to be afraid of (averaging 2.7 yds/carry), and their OL is a complete sieve. Lee and Angry Byrd and company are going to have their ears pinned back all game. I feel sorry for Holmann, as he's not going to stand a chance. Their defense is about as soft as you can get also. Over the past 5 games: Farrow (Houston) averaged 12.8 yds/carry against them, Thomas (Temple) 6.4yds/carry, Warren (Tulsa) 8.8 yds/carry and Hairston (ECU) 8.8 yds/carry. Both ECU and Cincy came up just short of passing for 500 yds against them. With the way our offense is going, I think we can pretty much name the score in this game if we wanted. Mack may have 100 yds by the half. And to top it off, this isn't just another game for our guys either. Some of you bring up FAU (or any of the other close upsets/upsets this past weekend), but none of those were rival games. UF already had the east wrapped up and have FSU at home this weekend. FAU, an opponent that no one on their team cares about, was a complete trap game for them. Last I checked, none of the guys on our team currently have beaten UCF. All the seniors on our OL and DL were there last year to partake in the embarrassing shutout. Mack was there, Flowers was there, Adams was there. I'm pretty sure those guys have some motivation. This is no trap game for us. Its against a hated rival who embarrassed us last year, with a potential division (and conference championship on the line). I don't see anyway our guys don't come out gangbusters for this game. USF by at minimum 21+ (more likely 40+)
