  1. Gets a little better next year as ACC becomes the other team in the St Pete bowl for a few years, and we add a bowl with the Big 12 as an opponent.
  2. I was wondering if any american teams can skip our contracted bowl games to fill slots that other conferences can't? If Clemson makes the playoffs and FSU/UNC get selected as an at-large to the one of the big bowls, then the ACC won't be able to fill their contracted games. They have better P5 matchups than our selection of Sun Belt, CUSA and MAC teams. Other conferences might be in the same boat, haven't checked yet.
  3. I swear I saw that too. Was actually trying to track down a SoFlo t-shirt for the game because of that.
  4. Haven't seen this posted yet. Nice to see some positive press again. Been a long time since I remember reading positive things on our team on a national level. Willie Taggart and Bulls turnaround
  5. Its a great idea. The Rays did this the second half of the season, and I know my dad (a vietnam vet) took full advantage of it. Its good outreach, and a way to add more butts in seats. The more casual fans you get in there to hopefully experience a game, the more who may be apt to come back (this year or next) as a paying customer.
  6. This. For whatever bump we'll see in student attendance we're likely to lose in "casual fan" attendance. Those less than avid USF fans, or just casual FSU/Miam/UF fans, who would attend a game in RJ because its 20-25 min away in a location they are familiar with will more than likely skip a game if its now 40-45 min away in a part of Tampa they likely don't know well. I think thats been part of UCF's struggles as their campus isn't exactly centrally located in Orlando, and for now, they need to rely on the casual fans as much as we do.
  7. Play calling is still a bit rough, as well as execution on both Flowers and the receivers part, but everything seems to be improving. Was surprised with the trouble we were having running up the middle against ECU, that we didn't see the inverted wishbone and more outside runs in the second half. Mack and Flowers both appear to be mostly healthy. Not sure why we aren't using that formation more often. Navy absolutely gashed ECU with their offense (400+ yards rushing), would imagine ECU would have had trouble defending runs from that formation.
  8. Yeah, don't think we'll start seeing a good bump in attendance again until next year (assuming we finish this year off with a bowl). Announced 28K, butts in seats 21-22K (hoping most of that is better student turnout). Would absolutely love to be drastically wrong on this though.
  9. Honest question without going into details. Some of your comments have seemed to indicate that CWT's ship is sunk almost no matter what. Is that right? There has to be a point where Harlan won't be able to justify letting him go, right? If we manage to go 7-5 regular season (a possibility) and then win a bowl game against Bowling Green or FIU or someone, I just find it extremely hard to believe that theres any way Harlan can realistically justify letting him go after improving the team to 8-5 in his 3rd year with a boatload of talent coming back.
  10. One, you were the one who said "no one was talking about a miracle fg", i simply pointed out that a couple (as in a few, not everyone) pointed out that scenario on the first page. Two, I left out your quote because it has little to do with the original argument. The argument was that there was no mathematical reason not to go for 2, i was simply pointing out thats not true. A coach needs to think 2 moves out (as in what happens after a possible ECU score) vs just 1 move out (ECU score). i was fine with the decision to go with one, and i would have been fine if he went for two. Both are a roll of the dice for a couple of highly highly unlikely scenarios to follow. If you all want to go on with it was a bad coaching decision because apparently the no brainer move was to go for one unlikely scenario (a converted 2 pt try) in hopes another highly highly highly unlikely scenario (missed extra point) happens, then have it I guess. I personally think its extreme nit-picking to find something to bash CWT about.
  11. Several mentioned the FG on the first page. Thats a reason why you go for 1 there with still 4 min left. You have just as much chance (actually probably more) at getting the ball back with enough time to try to get a field goal as you have of ECU missing a freakin extra point.
  12. If the behind the scenes crap is bad enough to fire him after the season no matter what he does, then he should have been fired right when it happened (whatever it is). Theres no way to fire CWT if we end up in a bowl (and a possible bowl win and winning season) without making it look really really really bad on Harlan.
  13. Uh, no you haven't (nor anyone else). Again, an extra point there, a ECU TD, then an USF FG, and you win. Thats much more likely scenario to happen than a successful 2 PT conversion, an ECU TD, then a blocked extra point, and then a FG (or OT) to win. That extra point allows you to still win the game with a comeback FG If (a big IF) ECU were to score. Although either way, all scenarios are extremely unlikely, and we've managed to turn a stupid argument into 3 pages.
  14. We're really over discussing this, but several of us have given you the reason why not to go for 2 there. So yes, there is a reason to NOT go for 2 in that instance.
  15. If the original plan had stuck together, this conference would have a strong argument for P6. Imagine Boise and San Diego St in the west right now with Houston and Navy, and with Memphis back in the east battling Temple.
  16. No way should Houston get bounced being undefeated after beating a team with a winning record (Cincy), especially since some lowered ranked teams lost (A&M, Ole Miss, Toledo). They may not move much (#23?)
  17. UConn and ECU will both likely end up 5-7, beating teams like that is an improvement for us over beating the 1-2 win bottom of the barrel awful teams like we have the past 2 years. Cincy is not much different than us (not mentioning our same record currently even). 4 of their 5 wins are over AAMU, Miami (OH), UCF and UConn. They've come up short against every decent team they played except Miami. But agree, next 3 games will be tough. Thats the life of an average team. All 3 games are winnable, while at the same time, all 3 games are losable (Although, Ive watched most of UCF games this year, even with the rivalry thrown in, they are just awful, plain awful - this should be a 21pt+ victory for us).
  18. This, beat me to the punch. IF, they came back and scored a TD, we still have a chance to win with a FG over just forcing OT.
  19. Ive seen a couple people mention this, but I'm not sure how that's a full excuse for the defense, as that disparity is in large part their fault (along with the fault of the fumbled kickoff). Time was only at a little more than a minute difference at half. Almost all that disparity comes from 3 straight drives: 7:33 drive in the mid 3rd quarter that ended in a FG, (4:08 USF drive in-between - can't fault the offense for not giving them a breather) followed up by a 5:47 drive that ended up in a TD, quickly followed by another 5:09 drive for the game killing TD. I won't fault them for the last TD, as the fumbled kickoff hurt. But being that time was close to being equal in that early third quarter, that 7 min drive and the almost 6 min drive is on them. They shouldn't have been gassed for those.
  20. there are plenty on here who are able to do that sanely. Unless CWT is bagging your old lady or something, your over the the top hatred is borderline psychotic and hopefully the police have you on a watch list.
