  1. Was a Canes fan pre-USF. Used to go to the Orange Bowl to watch games when I was in high school. During my USF days ('88-'94) I still cheered for UM football. The Bucs were still a joke back then, so only a few die-hards cared about the local pro team. USF sports was all about basketball for me. I attended every single home hoops game as a student. Honestly, when I was a student I never really thought that much about USF not having football, even though I did (and do) love college football. Of course, I haven't cheered for UM since 1997!
  2. Great read. Interesting that there was no mention of Cincinnati. That last sentence though... can you even imagine?
  3. At least they couldn't screw up the design for the back of that piece of garbage.
  4. Thanks for sharing your TT perspective. You already witnessed how close USF was to beating UCF. We also had UH 4th & 24 to close out that game, but USF failed to knock down the pass that converted for a UH first down. That enabled UH to ultimately score the winning TD with seconds remaining. My point is that USF is pretty much inches away from being anywhere from 10-1 to 12-0 (and in the Peach Bowl). Wasn't sure how familiar you are with our pain this year, but that's why many USF fans also feel disappointed having to play TT in Birmingham. But I look forward to USF beating TT anyway.
  5. The plot thickens... Now I'm actually glad this matchup is happening. I bet after this game a few more fine Texans will be aware of USF and they will never want to see us again.
  6. I'm pretty sure the rest of the "P"5 have the same attitude. There is nothing irrational in thinking that this USF team would defeat more than half of the "P"5 teams easily and would hang with and even defeat all but about 15-20 "P"5 teams. In other words, this team deserves to be in the top 25, but bias and attitudes like we see on the TT thread prevents that reality from coming true. Unfortunately.
  7. I know it's just a fan board, but the arrogance (ignorance?) of those Texas Tech posts is laughable. One guy called them out with some props for USF, but most have the attitude that USF is just some small-time, directional, mid-major undeserving of any respect. (And please save the snark agreeing with those jerks.) At least now I have something to look forward to on game day... watching Q and team make TT look as ridiculous as their fans on that thread.
  8. Thanks for sharing. Interesting that at least a few UF fans not only are willing to admit we exist but also giving our University some respect.
  9. Living in the mid-Atlantic, I don't often get to talk USF sports with people face to face outside of my family, so I was pleasantly surprised last night when a random Syracuse fan sitting at our Japanese hibachi table (south of D.C.) saw my USF gear and said, "That was a great game against Central Florida last week." I agreed except for the way it ended. I couldn't resist mentioning to him that I was at the USF vs Syracuse game in NY last year.
  10. Until we go 0-12, that's the metric I choose to focus on.
  11. I refuse to agree with that statement. Absolutely refuse!!!
  12. GW was also great from the free throw line. They have some good players. Freshman Alba Prieto is going to be a star for USF. This was my first time seeing the team in person. They are a fun team to watch. All you locals should go out of your way to catch some home games!
  13. Annapolis is less than 2 hours from my house, and my son will be home from USF on Dec. 28, so I selfishly am hoping for the Military Bowl. Based on the string of disappointments this season, however, I am assuming no Military Bowl until it is announced.
  14. Maybe ESPN could officially divide their on-air personalities into various levels of money-generating power. Only the top 5 employees would actually matter. We'll call them the "P5" for short. The single best analyst from the next level down could be guaranteed one prime time show per year on the big network and a one-time bonus check, but they can forget about getting any pay raises. In fact, maybe the non-P5 employees could just start their own sports network and quit bothering the real sports personalities with their pesky up-and-coming energy and new ideas. Imagine how much more exciting and profitable Sports Center and 30-for-30 would be. Also, all those non-P5 employees should just shut up and be happy that they aren't getting laid off. Oh wait...
  15. Definitely would go with the whole family (5 total).
