  1. Finally saw some details, that Battie's dad was with 8 players after the game and they aren't happy with the coaching staff.
  2. just people pointing out he was at the game i think, nothing of actual substance
  3. If we're going that route I'd rather say **** it and go for Urban. Either way people are going to hate the hire for off the field reasons, at least Meyer has the 2nd best college coach resume of the 21st century
  4. Last year we got Weatherford promising the OCS right after we got blasted week 1 to calm down the fans. Maybe we get a stadium render tomorrow to try and tide over the fanbase to give Scott a few more weeks to win people back
  5. Scott always had the Strong/covid excuses to give him a longer leash. But its been obvious from the get go that he coaches like he has zero faith in his players to execute and I can't imagine thats an effective strategy whether its warranted or not. We've seen in the G5 a solid coach can take a bad team to a bowl game year 1.
  6. Well good thing we got the IPF and stadium rolling in otherwise I'd be very concerned about the kind of coach we could get. IDK who I'd want but the last two have me convinced of what I don't want: -A retread who used to be a hot commodity but just failed at a bigger job (Scott Frost) -A coordinator who has no head coaching experience or playcalling experience (feels like a huge red flag in hindsight)
  7. oh wow thats big, would love to hear about what that was if anyone knows. Curious if its correctable and could give any reason for optimism, or just a sign that things are headed to a coaching search
  8. anyone know if this is anything more than a reference to Jeff Scott just not being a competent head coach?
  9. See people on twitter saying in the twitter space last night someone reliable was saying stuff along the lines of the players not believing in Scott. Not sure if this tweet is related but it has me intrigued.
  10. Any numbers on UCF "actual attendance" last night? They announced 43k but that looks like no more than 25k buts in seats
  11. www or not it works for me, wonder if its been fixed. what browsers are yall using?
  12. https://twitter.com/SSN_USF/status/1565345208753360896/photo/2 So the football facility is getting attached to the selmon center and not the stadium?
  13. This is confirmed? Had assumed the design firms would have rough renders in their proposals
  14. https://www.ucf.edu/about-ucf/facts-2020-2021/ They have 6,400 on campus, but then they list 3,756 as "affiliate housing". Affiliate housing looks like its off campus apartments that require you to be a UCF student. UF looks like they have 7,500 on campus and FSU has 6400. So us having 7000 is right in line with all the other big state schools.
  15. in response to the verified guy tweeting about how Gerry completed 63% of passes for 8.5 ypa against the blitz last year
  16. Yeah, as someone who was a student in the last 5 years I can say without a doubt the # of students living off campus but less than 2 miles away greatly outnumbers the # of students living on campus. And new apartments right off campus are opening every year. Not finding results on google but I'd have to think there are at least around 40-50 apartment complexes directly off campus (thinking from between where campus lodge used to be, down to the UMall area, then out east toward i-75)
  17. playing at the ray jay appeals to casual football fans in tampa. more accessible for a lot of people and state of the art. But having an on campus stadium will captivate a lot more students that otherwise wouldn't go. You can offer free busses or ubers from campus, but its not the same as walking from your dorm directly to the festivities. If we can consistently win 7-11 games in the OCS we'll be rocking.
  18. Last year Weaver returned 90% of our punts while being an important part of the offense, think they'll keep going with the best option. Kids probably like it because that returning versatility may help their NFL chances.
  19. Mangham mentioned on the fowler avenue interview with Grothe that this fall camp was a lot more serious than last years. Reminds me of a story I heard in one of the practices where Gerry chewed guys out for going through the motions and how that wasn't going to cut it, then the rest of practice got super intense. Not to nock Timmy, but he wasn't a vocal leader and having a successful veteran that can call guys out like that is huge. "Bad teams, no one leads. Average teams, coaches lead. But elite teams, players lead."
  20. How hard to hit: Physicality balance efforts on display at first BYU football fall camp scrimmage Thud vs. get ’em down. That was a pretty important distinction for BYU football defenders to keep in mind when they took the field for their first fall camp scrimmage... Was looking at their board to see what their fans thought of the receiver injuries and saw comments about "how are guys getting hurt when we've scaled back the physicality at practice", so I found this. Sounds like to prevent injuries, they are having their starters just play touch football instead of tackling to the ground. Guys wrap up and the play is over, no tackling to the ground. This could be to our advantage if we're banging away with Mangham and Gerry (231 and 226) and their linebackers and DB's haven't tackled in live football in 5 months. Not to mention there's a 50 percent chance of rain pretty much all game, I think in the first 2 drives we'll be able to tell if their defense looks soft from this. Could this be no big deal? Sure. But in the covid year Navy was coming off an 11-2 season where they finished ranked #20th, but due to academy covid restrictions they weren't allowed to tackle in fall camp. That first game after camp they lost to BYU 55-3 and let up 300 yards rushing on 6 yards a carry https://www.espn.com/college-football/matchup?gameId=401234576
  21. Sounds like we're getting some new info regardless, after that June 15th meeting I'm no longer getting my hopes up for pics of the new stadium until it happens
