  1. watched a youtube video of Gerry vs BYU earlier today. the biggest impression I left with is I'd be surprised if we held them under 30 points. think a shootout is our only chance
  2. yeah this must not be related to what JP Peterson was referencing
  3. Sounds like the stadium will have LED lighting so the green glow continues
  4. Being announced at 11, seems possible its related. On the surface seems very similar to this gift last year to the school of business https://www.usf.edu/news/2022/usf-receives-10-million-to-establish-center-focused-on-talent-pipeline-for-tampa-bay.aspx
  5. https://twitter.com/photog_JayMac/status/1562152631807639552 Saw someone mentioning building a sports bar in the stadium. Not sure if anyone's been to Lambeau field in the summer but its setup to be a year round attraction and there's always a decent crowd there hanging out. https://www.packers.com/lambeau-field/atrium They have this huge atrium with a hall of fame, pro shop, tour guides, and a big sports bar built into the stadium. Having something like that could be a cool way to get more year-round use of our stadium. Would make more sense than a lazy river anyway
  6. have heard nonstop buzz about Hill this fall, after seeing that hair get burned so many times last year I'll never count out a player again if he becomes a stud
  7. ****, him and Ash we're huge gets at a position of need. Crazy the luck we dont get
  8. Glad to hear there is competition on the oline. While experienced, there was still a lot of room for improvement
  9. QB is the most important position and last year our team QB rating was 120th in college football. While our defense was trash and held us back, so did our QB play. You can point to moments here and there where Timmy showed upside, but RIGHT NOW he isn't a good QB. You can point to just as many plays of him missing open receivers or making bone head decisions instead of throwing it away. Gerry was 50th last year in QB rating, while not a world beater its a big upgrade over Timmy, McCloud, Barnett, etc. QBR factors in running too, by that metric Timmy was 90th last year and Gerry was top 35. September 3rd cant get here fast enough
  10. Makes sense. With recent history being one of the 3 metrics and our schedule I don't see how an equation would give us more than 4 wins
  11. Saw this video, look at how pathetic that pass rush is. 4 seconds for the QB to stand clean and deliver a throw without an ounce of discomfort. If you just watch the line most the time their guys are just waiting for us to attack. Shoop getting a decent pass rush could solve most of the defenses issues
  12. HIs older brother is actually SJ Green. Last year he appeared in 9 games and got a start vs SMU. I'd guess he's a depth piece that may get some playing time if we get the injury bug. Do feel for Glenn Spencer, we can hate on him for playing so conservatively. But the alternative was leaving walk-ons and guys learning the position out to dry in the secondary. This feels like the first year of Scott's tenure where personnel issues aren't going to make things impossible before the season even starts.
  13. Doesn't mean anything for this year but last year BYU was 1-6 against the spread on the road and USF was 5-1 against the spread at home. If USF loses but covers and has the ball with a chance to tie/take the lead in the 4th would that have anyone feeling optimistic for the season? Or are we past moral victories at this point?
  14. Heard Hill talk in an interview recently and he definitely wasn't setup for success last year. Went to Auburn as a wide receiver. Realized he had a better chance of going pro on defense so switched to cornerback in 2020. Then transferred here and we we're going to switch him to safety and let him learn from the bench for a year, but due to Will Jones getting hurt 2 days before the season he got thrust into starting in a position he was learning for the first time (and only started playing defense the year before). Sounds like Shoop is moving him into a slot-corner/star role that better fits his skillset. Has great speed so being close to the line of scrimmage could help him close out easier and not be hung out to dry 20 yards down field
  15. think i saw fraternities have no events that day but sororities have some recruitment event in the MSC that day... you'd think with this alignment we hear about now they could work something out where they do some recruitment event at the first game
  16. Michel Dukes Sounds like he had 6 carries for 43 yards in this weekends scrimmage. Could be who fills in for Joiner
  17. Thats at least being considered https://www.usforacle.com/2021/10/26/law-creates-advisory-committee-to-assess-development-of-usf-forest-preserve-the-claw/ will be interesting to see if the master plan addresses the claw or this redevelopment would be separate since I'm assuming it would be converting the Claw into something that isn't apart of athletics
  18. Just realized this would make the last war on i4 a home game with a trip to the conference championship on the line
  19. Found this interesting. 7-5 after a 1-3 start with those wins would certainly feel like 2015
  20. In 2019 USF was coming off a 2-9 stretch with the only FBS win being UCONN when BYU came to town. Attendance then was 35,375. Think because its the opener we get around that again
  21. curious to see the stadium renders as the plan seems to be to include some bar/restaurant type things on the property directly next to the stadium
  22. The surrounding area is changing a lot in the next 10-15 years and the OCS will only help. A remodeled Yuengling with a hotel, multiple bars, and stages 1 mile from campus. Not exactly a college bar but still some place for students 21+ to drink locally https://www.yuengling.com/news/yuengling-tampa-campus/ Here's a rendering of what the University Mall renovations should look like. Scheduled to open before the OCS. Should be another area students living nearby can go drink https://www.rdmanagement.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/rithm_web_0720.png This developer claims to convert the 18 blocks between 275 and campus into a walkable urban neighborhood within 15 years. This is longterm but could be a gamechanger for the area as a whole https://www.tampabay.com/news/business/2022/06/14/meet-christopher-bowen-where-you-see-a-dead-mall-he-sees-tampas-future/ In regards to having 18+ bars directly off campus that students can walk to I think that would require major renovations to the Mosi site or 50th which I wouldn't count on.
  23. -Someone (TBT, Athletic, SI, etc) adding a dedicated USF beat writer could be it
  24. listened to the show, he said he can't release it yet (USF wants to make an announcement themselves i'm assuming) but it will give us a lot more exposure. The block party tomorrow could make sense for when we'll hear about it
  25. In the BOT meeting this morning they mentioned that next Wednesday the naming of some program or facility is being announced. Not sure if that could be related but figured I'd throw that out there.
