  1. Besides the ties to USF, I still don't see what makes him a great hire over all the other assistant coaches out there....
  2. We really dodged a bullet not hiring a future NBA coach....
  3. You watched our defense last season, he might be the best we have right now. I think if there was a better backup available, he would have been playing.
  4. Only thing I can think of is that they were interested in a coach or coaches still in the tournament and wanted to interview them first? I can't think of anyone better than Brey who is attainable by USF. Anyone at a bigger school with success isn't going to take a step down for a re-build in the AAC. If this guy was interested in the job, they should have hired him immediately. I have no idea. We better not USF this up!!
  5. But you have to admit, Scott was building a culture here and winning was right around the corner. They just pulled the plug too soon.
  6. Anyone else getting nervous with no new coach announcement yet??
  7. They could have hired a head of lettuce and it would have had a winning record with that talent. He only had a winning overall record because he got fired before he could lose more games. Maybe they should have given him an extension since he had such a good record....
  8. From a few quotes, it sounded like he just needed a change after 23 years in one place. Maybe more will come out as things proceed. He made sure to say he wasn't "retiring", just stepping down from coaching Notre Dame. “I’ve had 23 years. It’s unbelievable. It’s been amazing, but I firmly believe down the road it needs to be somebody else,” Brey said. “(Notre Dame Athletic Director) Jack (Swarbrick) and I talked about it this last week and felt now is the time to kind of do that.”
  9. We'll either end up with an up and coming assistant coach with perceived potential and no name-recognition or a re-tread who was successful in past jobs, but his career is trending downward. Our program is cursed, we can't have nice things.....
  10. Well, the Vipers still exist, they just moved to Vegas. The Orlando team is a trainwreck. Hopefully Q can do something positive there.
  11. Unfortunately, we lose Harris, our main offensive weapon and ball-handler. Unless we get another transfer to replace, we'll be back to the low scoring, grind it out defensive games.
  12. I like how UCF calls themselves Space U on their uniform, like the Space Coast is part of Orlando. I can see Navy and Air Force having space-related uniforms.
  13. I agree completely. I think we are getting a little ahead of ourselves talking about a bowl game before we've even seen a spring game. Besides offense, this team was terrible last season. Most of the offensive contributors are gone and we don't know how good the offensive line will be. Both sides of the ball are learning new systems with new coaches.
  14. I read some of this when he was first hired, but chose to stay positive. Talent-wise, we know what we have on defense. It won't be pretty next season....I'm hoping for some improvements the following year.
  15. Wow, talk about perfect timing.....good for him!
  16. Strong did a pretty good job of running it into the ground with his coaching and lack of recruiting before CJS even got here, but let's pretend everything was fine and dandy. I don't think there is much left of that dead horse but bones at this point. You're literally kicking bones. CJS is gone, let it go....look to the future...why jump on any mention of CJS?? He's not coming back.
  17. Oh, I literally meant, we score on offense and they just keep giving the ball back to us, exclude the defense totally. We'd probably have to alter the rules of football, but we'd win more.
  18. If we could just figure out a way to keep the offense on the field the entire game I think we'd be okay.
  19. Keep in mind CJL didn't actually say he held a grudge, he's probably happy doing what he's currently doing. This is just what the poster thinks over a 5-10 minute conversation.
  20. Don't they have to get through KC first? Still, it's good exposure.
