Being a gossip takes no talent, really.  Connections, yes.

He is on espn for CFB all the time. He is akward, stiff, and just has that awe struck look like, "am I really here?" I am not even sure why ESPN puts him on; normally it's during times when they are looking for insight regarding teams, players etc and he is surrounded by former players/coaches. He has no presence or charisma and no interesting takes...he must have rigged some kind of sweet deal during the Leavitt saga...

^^^

Stupid

The deal he rigged was for himself.  He came out of it as a news breaker and one with no moral compass.  He will write anything, as he proved at TBO.  That kind of gossip content drives traffic and ad revenue.  He's never relied on named sources.  Greg and Joey were/are not allowed to use unnamed sources.  Sooner or later he'll have his Bill Simmons moment.

Do you think he puts his job on the line without knowing where his next paycheck was coming from? I sure wouldn't...but i would suggest it's not worth spending our time and energy. It looks as though what he does brings him success and he is not going to stop as you can read in the link above...

McMurphy retweets others' scoops as his unnamed sources all the time.
