Don't sweat low numbers from JUCO big men. It's tough to get the ball from the JUCO guards hands, as they shoot all the time. When a coach recruits these big men from JUCO, they must go on the eye test and vision of how they will be used in a D1 system.

Also, these Texas JUCO's have 12 D1 caliber players on them (all freshmen and sophs) trying to get to their next gig in a short time.

Would that explain the lack of Block numbers also ... a lot of shooting from outside the paint so not a whole of chances to block? Egbunu only averaged a little over 1 block but watching the games, there were a lot of altered shots put up to try and avoid him ...

EDIT- Valid points, but some of that is coaching and scheme as well. Poor shot selection can be coached, court positioning as well. If the plan is to use him in the paint or inside 10 ft then I would imagine that's where the coaching staff will make sure he stays. We have brought in talented wing men, if coaching a 6-10 mammoth on how to stay in close proximity to the basket is our biggest battle I am ok with that

I remember the announcers in one of our games this year bemoaning the lack of a statistic for "affected shots" or some such, specifically referring to folks avoiding Big John.

Hopefully Big Jaleel can continue those "affected shots" ....

I just found that picture in some article. It didn't say.

BUT, there were 93 free throws in that game. :roflmao:

17-2 run sparks Navarro’s rally past San Jac

in Basketball January 5, 2014

By MIKE PHILLIPS / Corsicana Daily Sun

These are the numbers — the Ripley’s Believe it Not numbers — from Navarro’s 83-78 win over San Jacinto Saturday afternoon. Believe this: The two teams combined to shoot 93 free throws in a game that stopped and started more times than rush-hour traffic in Dallas.

I guess "no blood, no foul" doesn't apply in Texas?

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
