Participation trophies aren't worth several hundred dollars.  It's a way to pay athletes that aren't getting paid.

Apparently it's not worth nearly what KD is asking for it.  Also, you mean in addition to all the other swag they get for going to the bowls?  Trust me, rings aren't all they get.  Some get game systems, gift cards, lots of cool items. 

 

This is basically a trophy for just being there, aka a participation trophy.

Yeah, but its also worth some money, even if it is only for the gold.  In addition to the other stuff they get.
