Student attendance can't be the reason because they don't show up for the existing on campus events anyway. Also, students don't pay to go to the games anyway. This. 270,000 in Dallas without power. I live down the street from SMU and the whole city was shut down on Friday and Saturday. They knew no one was coming. There were points on TV where they would have a shot of half the stadium where not a single person was present. This wasn't some promo thought of well in advance. This was SMU realizing no one was going to show up for the game and realizing it's embarassing to have no one in the stadium when the game is on national TV against a ranked opponent.
