What makes a good halfitme show (band)?

During the game my brother and I were watching Herd of Thunder and realizing that we never really pay attention. Then we were wondering how our band compares with other. (Neither of us know anything about band). What makes a band good? What makes a good halftime show? I usually just watch the baton twirlers.

Band is on par with the Football team and the rest of the Athletic Dept.

Our band is not good but the announcer makes it worse.  No fans in the stands doesn't help much for gaining tradition like Ohio State, Auburn FSU, Alabama, NC State or others we have seen.  Our pregame seems weak and half time shows have gotten bad the last few years.

I was there, I refused to cheer.  I do not understand how people support Michael Jackson.

most college marching bands would look pretty bad if only compared to Ohio State.

 

I would say we are average but then again, it's really not something I am interested in watching in general

I hear FAMU is really good, but when they preformed at RayJay I was off getting more beer from the vendors.

Based on BOA  and DCI standards our Band is below average at best.   Want to see what real Bands look like and can be like do a you tube search for DCI (Drum Corp International) and you will see we are actually pretty bad. 

 

 

Cpl reasons why this could be, Our band is more inclusive than other college bands(Our band is open to ANY college kid in the area that wants to be in the band)( including HCC students, or any other student who wants to participate as long as they register with USF as a non degree seeking student)  http://herdofthunder.usf.edu/future-members/

LOL Mike, Agree, 99% or more of the people that attend the games prob could care less about the band.  But there are some apparently. 

 

Our Band is a reflection of the University just like the Football program, or ANY other sport, club or organization that represents USF.  So our band is on Par with the University as a whole. (perfect for Conf USA 2.0) But not up to standards when it comes to the Power 5 (which we should strive for).

If we are ok being avg at best than we have nothing to worry about. If we want and expect excellence(which we should) than we have work to do.
