Bulls Up the Intensity in Vero Beach

TAMPA – Head coach Willie Taggart and his bus full of Bulls have rolled away from the comfy luxuries of home for a week that serves as USF’s first huge test of toughness this fall.

 

The USF football team suited back up in full pads Saturday afternoon and amped up the intensity at Vero Beach Sports Village, where the Bulls will train until Saturday, Aug. 17.

 

“Coach (John) Harbaugh visited the team earlier this week and he said something that really stood out to me and it stood out to our football team: ‘You have to get comfortable being uncomfortable,’ ” head coach Willie Taggart said.

 

Vero Beach Sports Village – formerly Dodgertown – has become an annual preseason stop for the Bulls because the facility provides the team with a true home away from home when it comes to training. A full staff is on hand to cook and care for the Bulls while they attend hours of team meetings, lift with strength coach Hans Straub and his staff or practice on a wide variety of fields.

 

The rest of the time the Bulls are either eating in the cafeteria, hanging out in the training room or resting in their rooms all inside the Vero Beach Sports Village.

“I wanted us to come together as a football team and have us become a lot closer as a football team,” Taggart said. “I want us to get to know each other – our mom, our dad, our brothers and sisters – so when we leave here, we understand each other. When we do go to battle, we know what we’re battling for and we’ll know we’re battling for each other.”
