It really has the appearance that Manziel wasn't the only player these "brokers" paid for signatures. All of this has the appearance of being bulk signed stuff. I doubt Manziel is alone in taking money for autographs. Hopefully the lid will be blown off of this whole underground autograph business. Will Manziel be the only one to take the fall and made an example of, or do you think the NCAA will investigate these other athletes as well? Even these autograph sellers are making tons of money on these players.

The pics in the thread starter shows footballs and helmets signed by Lee, with COA's. I wonder if USC, and others, does the signed helmet stuff as fundraising/charity and that's how it gets out. My guess is not much happens. The NCAA has to already be aware of all of these items for sale from their investigation of Manziel, which has been ongoing according to an ESPN reporter, since February. But Lee signing photos at the same hotel and weekend that Manziel did, and those items hitting the market as well? Are we really to expect all of these players just agreed to sign hundreds of items for some sleezes in a hotel room for nothing? Why would anyone do that? It's likely they all took money for signing this stuff, and photos or video of it probably exists on all of them. The photos and video is what the sellers use to have the signatures authenticated. Looks like bustedcoverage is the first media outlet suggesting other college athletes may have been paid. http://bustedcoverage.com/2013/08/07/johnny-manziel-autograph-dealer-has-19-jadeveon-clowney-items-on-ebay/ Also, this thread page has some better screen shots of other signed memorabilia from college atheletes all from the same ebay seller with the number of items for each athlete highlighted. http://mobile.texags.com/Forums/5/Topics/2342245?page=7 Edited August 7, 2013 by Gismo

Quote: With this information, I went back to the verification search and discovered a much larger sequence from I65152 - I65409 of 258 consecutive Clowney autographed items. The seller sportsagent2be has active listings for 9 of these items and completed listings for 33. So from one seller, and the first one I looked at mind you, we have 17 active listings and 47 completed listings in the past 90 days for items autographed by Jadeveon Clowney that appear in large consecutive sequences in the JSA Certificate system. http://www.goodbullhunting.com/2013/8/7/4597352/johnny-manziel-bulk-signing-autographs-clowney-lattimore-ebay

Not me personally, but people I know are in the industry. They arrange to meet with the player, usually at a hotel or something, and then they have them sign HUNDREDS of items. They do not pay the player directly for anything, but they do happen to pay a family member or close friend a few thousand dollars. The NCAA is caught between a rock and a hard place on this issue. The media attacked Manziel because he has been fighting with the media. Now, with the reports of all the other players involved, of which I can confirm at least 3 who have done the same thing, the NCAA cannot afford to lose all of their star players to this meaningless scandal. Let's be realistic, it isn't really that big of a deal and it is being blown way out of proportion. At the end of the day I expect it all to die down and go away.
