St Pete is the charming part of Tampa Bay. Still peeved they didn't go forward with the Rays park at the Al Lang site. Would have been beautiful.

no....just no...

not trying to turn this into a Rays discussion, but there is a reason the owners don't want to stay in St.Pete.

The owners wanted that park at Al Lang. No where else in St Pete really works. St Pete citizens fought it, that's why St Pete is SOL with the Rays.

Did you go to the Ale and Witch - Great Microbrew's on tap.

Oh you beat me to it! My favorite place in DTSP. Great beers, good live music, great Thai place next door, they just opened up a BBQ place upstairs and there is even a Wine bar for the ladies that don't drink beer. Great courtyard to hang out.

OP too bad you missed the fall/winter when the Saturday morning market is in full swing (and no rain to rain out your golf). I live about a block away from the Vinoy, Great area. Hidden gem is the Old Northeast Tavern. Check it out.

Old Northeast Tavern was great about 5 years ago, but then the neighbors turned into jerks about the noise and parking became an issue big time.   Need to go back

They only said to hopefully get St.Petr to let them look outside of St.Pete. the line was "oh Al Lang is great, we will deftnly look into it, as long as we also have your permission to look outside St.Pete"

They actually put a lot into developing the Al Lang park. It wasn't a gimmick they wanted to be there. But that is the only location in St Pete that was feasible. Money, surrounding area and attractiveness of the park. St Pete citizens would have voted against it though. So they can't really complain about the Rays moving. Could have had one the best sports stadiums in the country. Al Lang is an amazing place to watch a game.

Actually Ale and Witch no longer exists, they tore the building down and a new one is going up with a bunch of new businesses.

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
