I'll be the first in line to donate for an OCS.... but are you crazy??

 

Pay down our current debt and put it away to get to a better conference.... maybe an indoor practice facility.

 

 

OCS is a very long way away now.

Not crazy jsut a knee reaction thought reply. Indoor practice facitlity is a must and should be first. An OCS may not be fiscally prudent/responsible but the OCS needs to happen sooner before later. For the benefits of the students and recruiting unless RJS gives USF more latitude in field decor and parking/concession dollars. If you wait for the perfect timing for something more than likely it will not happen. Just sayin'.

 

I agree, except I think the OCS should happen sooner rather than later even if RJS gives us those concessions. IMO, we will not achieve truly big-time football status unless we have a good OCS, and for the same reason even the St. Pete Times forum is no substitute for the tricked-out Sun Dome we now have.

I think the only way we should build an OCS is if we move to a better conference (ACC/ Big 12). If the 4/5 conferences are concrete with expansion and we are left out, then a 50k football stadium would be a grave yard for USF athletics. Pay off the debt for the existing facilities we just built and put some towards an indoor practice facility. Bank the rest.

This $30 million, when combined with the $2 million a year we will get from the new (putrid) media deal, basically means that for the next two years, we will get paid AS IF we had gotten an invite to a Power 5 conference starting in 2013-2014, approximately $17 million per year.

Upgrade facilities and sell UCF/USF as package deal to Big12 while only accepting 1/2 of their "per team payout" for the first couple years. 2 for 1 special over here....cmon!

Hell with ucf. They need to find there own way.

Not if TV execs and B12 officials want both of us. At that point off we go. 

Ok lets separate the Rivalry with UCF from the economics...Point FSU and the Gators loved it...Press exposure...This is the same  Its a win win for both schools..Just hope they get better seats in their OCS then aluminum benches.. aslo schedule late fall less heat...

I think we owe some thanks for this to BSU and SDSU for bailing.  With the whole coast-to-coast conference, it looked likely we would be changing the name anyway, which would have given us a lot less leverage in this negotiation.

MY TRUTH.....If and when we fill Ramond James 60,000 seats for 80% of the games I will be all for building a 100,000 seat OCS... right now in our best years we were at leat 20,000 seats short of that goal...20,000 seats at  $45 per seat x 6 games   there enought money to start paying off an OCS debt....

100,000 seat OCS? WTF!?!?!

A perfect size for us would be in the 50-60k range and expandable to 75k.
