Okay so this conference is basically garbage but realistically its where we will be fore the foreseeable future.

At minimum... UCONN or UL go to the ACC. Assuming we can hold onto the other this is what we are dealing with:

2013

USF

UCF

UL/UCONN

Cinci

Temple

Memphis

Houston

SMU

Boise

SDSU

2015

Navy

My opinion is that we need to beef up the western division IMMEDIATELY. I think Fresno, UNLV, BYU, Air Force all need to be on the radar.

East

USF

UCF

UC

UL/UCONN

Memphis

Temple

West

Boise

SDSU

Houston

SMU

*

*

We need to face the facts and just put together a best of the rest with the biggest markets that we can.

I say let the Big East fall to pieces, this patch work is looking awful. UConn and UL will eventually venture else where once the opportunity arises. Let Boise and San Diego go to the MWC.

Let the commissioners divide up the football teams and place the school in the decided conferences so we can move on with our lives.

At this point it is clear what the next move is...you go for basketball supremecy! Football is done with and will be an after thought in the new Big East. VCU (Richmond VA. market) should be asked to join in all sports but football to replace Notre Dame, and Ohio U should be asked to join in all sports because they have good B-ball and have the funds to build up a football team. This is on top of adding BYU (a great hoops school with a ton of fans) and Air Force which has fans if nothing else.

At this point just go after the biggest markets out west... I say Nevada and UNLV or Colorado St... From now on if you aren't in a major city we don't need you...

The Big East is lower in the pecking order. With what just happened, I don't think anybody is going to join until the big dogs have their fill. Then the Big East can pick from what scraps are left.

Huh?! The Big East has been going for basketball supremacy for over a decade...which is the major factor that lead to the mess we're all currently in. And those teams you list don't make up for the losses by a long shot. Football has always been an afterthought in the Big East, and that's what needs to change if the league wants to keep any relevancy at all...and it's why we invited Boise State and San Diego. Not sure if you were being sarcastic...?

We had a shot at football relevancy then...it is not there anymore. What other GOOD football programs can we add now?

Losing Rutgers will not hurt us perception wise or financially if we can add BYU, VCU (in basketball, the school is located in a big city in Virginia which is a good recruiting region not covered by Big East), and Ohio (big school 30,000 plus, one of the oldest in country with a good academic tradition, good basketball and potentially competitive football in a good recruiting area with a decent on campus stadium) along with maintaing the other incoming additions: Houston, Boise, San Diego, UCF, SMU, Navy, and Memphis. This lineup will still be THE PREMIERE basketball conference in the country as well as a fun to watch coast to coast football conference. We just need to keep everybody on board. Screw Rutgers....nobody liked them anyways!

The Big East is dead or at least it should be. C-USA is probably about to die too. Perhaps we should start from scratch and focus more on a new Southern conference. A conference of USF, UCF, Georgia State, East Carolina, Charlotte, Old Dominion, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Arkansas State, Tulsa, Houston, SMU, UTSA, and Texas State has much better long-term viability.
