This important matter came to me the other night when some other Bull suggested we all go down to Tampa International and greet the Bulls Basketball team when they arrive home.  So, it got me to thinking, our athletics program doesn't make any money landing in some other guys airport.  I am sure TPA collects a pretty large landing and concession fee every time our sports teams fly out of there, and we don't get to share in any of the profit.  We need our own runway to help increase profits for the athletic department.  Of course our ultimate goald would be an 11,000 foot runway down the center of campus, but I propose a more modest begining, say level the college of arts and run a smaller runway from the Moffit Cancer center to the administration building. We could land small prop planes in there to begin with and use rocket assisted take off for larger ones.  The top floor of the Marshall Center could be the control tower.  We coule expand to 11,000 feet once the BCS money starts rolling in and we are forced to buy that Boeing 747-400 for Bulls football.  Other benifits of the runway include our own flight school, and the ability to fly strait to school and skip Tampa traffic.

Why don't we teach the team how to skydive, then we can just fly over campus while they leap out of the plane.  And to save on funding they will pack thier own chutes, this will help keep costs down and it will also strenghten the gene pool weeding out those who cannot follow simple directions.

That would have been handy when we played Southern Miss since they DONT have an airport to handle the teams plane...

Now were in the Big East I think were okay airport landing wise.....

This is real cutting edge stuff. Good job, lob ... This could be what's been holding back our bb program since we made the jump to Metro/CUSA.

Maybe, until we get this baby funded, we could use those Harrier jets that have vertical takeoff and landing capabilities. Plenty of room on campus for that.

Breaking news...

USF just allowed the students to start a fund.  If a new airport isn't studied by 2012, the money will go toward a heliport.

In other news, student fees jumped to $15000 per semester to offset ongoing fuel and maintenance costs...the Physics department is close to a breakthrough in cold fusion which would eliminate this cost and make the University independently wealthy.

A heliport might be the way to go, just get a couple of those big troop-transport type helo's to haul everybody down to TIA.

Another option would be some kind of sub-orbital vehicle which could be launched from the intramural fields. Just use some kind of superconducting electromagnetic pulse mechanism to launch into the upper atmosphere, then it could just glide down to anywhere along the Eastern Seaboard.

This all makes about as much sense as building a tunnel.  Yes, a tunnel.

Maybe we should upgrade the sundome and get a new stadium first ;).

Funny stuff though, guys.
