Jamie... didn't we have a chance to host the Ball St. game... but the Sun Dome was booked during the 1st round? Just wondering or maybe I was having too much fun in Key West during Spring Break that year. Ball St. would've been a tourney team that year if their best player didn't get hurt early on... I remember them rolling through some big name teams during the Great Alaskan Shootout (or maybe it was the Maui classic). That was a team were injuries ruined their whole season. Tron hit for like 40 in that game to didn't he?

That is a classy move by Seth if true. I know he never had the opportunity to buy tickets for the students for and NIT game while at USF because we never got to host a game. I am sure he would have done the same thing while he was at USF IMO. He did hook a lot of students with free pizza which was pretty cool. Also, I seem to remember Seth putting in some money to help USF students travel to the C-USA tourny in Cincy years ago. The one thing that Seth has going is he is a nice guy and a lot of people like him. He will be around college basketball for a long time whether it is with the media or coaching IMO.

I remember attending an NIT game against Coppin State at the Sun Dome... or was Pascal still coaching then ?? ('98 I think)...

I never liked Seth Greenberg as a coach.  He was a GREAT administrator, and I will give him BIG KUDOS for improving our schedule... Wisconsin instead of Webber... Michigan State instead of Murry State... etc.  His elevated the caliber of opponents for USF, and he should get a big thank you from even the most ardent Seth haters (including me)...

But the man could not coach worth a bucket of spit.  (Of course S Bien might tell me that coaches can't execute the plans ;-) ;-) ) His teams lacked fundamentals... committed too many fouls... couldn't make free throws... tried to play streetball.

I was GLAD the day he announced he was leaving for VT... and I doubt he will have the same success recruiting... just hear the message now: "Come to a podunk town in the Appalachian mountains of Virginia and lose a lot of games in the 2nd best conference in the country...."  (At least RMC has Florida beaches and the best conference in the country in which to lose games ;-) )

Jim, why do you just give the Sherrif a written invitation to reply to your post? Sherrif, you are on the clock.

Seth is already having pretty good success recruiting at Vtech.  Like a top 30 class.  Doesn't appear that the "podunk town" thing has been a detriment.  BTW, where have the beaches and playing in the best BB conference in the country gotten us in recruiting?

I will pass at any attempt to ruin a decent thread. Here's my question... how long before Seth and John Chaney get into it?

Seth was on The First Team with Czaban this morning.  Always a good interview.

Still like Coach Mac better though!   ;D

If he had a top 30 class why doesn't he have a top 30 team? Sounds like he is underperforming as a coach again. It seems as though he has no top 150 recruits coming in. In fact the only guy he has signed that is ranked is a freshman point guard that has left the team. Can you say head-case? How can you have a top 30 class when you don't have anyone ever ranked in the top 150 recruits?? Where do you get info?

Story by a VT fan I saw today:

I know this is not about Carolina, but I just wanted to share this story. I just woke up to get tickets for VT's NIT game agaisnt Temple tomorrow night. When I showed up, to my suprise, I found out that the student tickets were free becasue Seth had come and paid for 2,000 of them (tickets were $5 a piece) himself. I know it is just the NIT but it is a step foward for the program and Seth is really getting the students to rally around the team. It is going to be SOME KIND of an atmosphere in the Cassell tomorrow night since all tickets are General Admission.

Is he trying to buy their love?  sounds like an absent father trying to ease his guilty conscience

For the same reason Leavitt didn't win CUSA this year - it takes 3-4 years to develop your recruits. I just saw something the other day where the latest batch of VT recruits was ranked #25 in the nation...not sure where, though.  :-/
