I think a big time contact with NBC (or Fox I guess) is really the only thing that can "save" the Big East in the long term.

To me the largest issue is that since the conferences are getting larger it is going to get increasingly difficult for BE teams to play (and beat) teams in the other conferences. Without that inter-conference play the BE will be stuck being viewed as a lesser group.
