It's good that some of the big uglies we are getting play on both sides of the ball. You never can tell where they will eventually wind up at USF.

Jesuit's Ruff commits to USF

Jesuit two-way lineman Cameron Ruff has committed to USF, becoming Hillsborough County's third rising senior lineman to make a verbal pledge to the Bulls in the last week.

Ruff (6-foot-3, 290 pounds), who received his offer at a Bulls team camps two weeks ago, joins Robinson linemen Bruce Hector and Connor Rafferty as recent USF commitments.

He chose Skip Holtz's program over 11 other Division I schools that offered him including Iowa State, Syracuse, Purdue and Cincinnati.

"I chose USF because it felt like a second home," Ruff said in a text message to the Times. "And the environment is very welcoming, especially the coaches and the local players going there."

Considered a three-star prospect by Rivals.com, Ruff had 14 pancake blocks, 19 tackles and a sack in 2011. He'll line up at tackle on both sides this autumn.

I saw a tweet yesterday about some 8 year old girl who dreams of playing BB for UConn, FSU and USF. We are making strides.

I can't help but think this may help us with Travis Johnson. Ruff is a good recruit and he may well get us Johnson too...which would be awesome.

What I think it really does is put USF as a viable option in the minds of the underclassmen at Jesuit and not a fall back option as it seems we have been for the QB's there

My nine year old asked me to buy him some USF gear my fourteen year old has Bulls posters all over the walls in his room. The fourteen year old is torn now, he says he wants to go to USF but he also wants to play against AW so he can try and pick him off in a game playing DB. I said well its gonna have to be in practice ! lol

Especially when he had offers from some other major programs. He is a smart kid. I hope all of the born and raised Florida talent analyze the effects of playing in cold weather like Ruff.
