I love it, the powers that be are revamping the system because BCS rankings don't work. But that's what we are gonna use to divide up the loot. What a bunch of Apes.

In fact, if money is divided up by perfomance in the BCS ratings system over the last few years, the Big East will be at least on par with the ACC. This writer obviously hasn't done much research.

Pretty close! Love how ND has 0 points.

1. SEC 407 points

2. Big 12 361 points

3. Big Ten 259 points

4. Pac-12 224 points

5. ACC 184 points

6. Big East 130 points

7. BYU 31 points

8. MWC 30 points

9. C-USA 5 points

10. MAC 4 points

11 (tie). Notre Dame, WAC and Sun Belt 0 points

The incoming teams are slightly better than the outgoing teams as a whole, so if that is the way it works the BE will be ok.

So the B12 get's twice as much money as the ACC under this scenario. Good bye FSU, CU, VT, GT. And ND get's 0. Welcome ND to the new B12. ESPN has to be spitballing on this one, they will never get that passed. Edited by Bullwinkle

So if you say we have 130 points or 8% of the total pie, estimated at $500MM that comes to $40MM added to our TV revenues which we never got before. 12 teams comes to $3.3 million per team. add that to a modest estimate of TV revenues at say $14 million per team per year, comes to $17 million. From what we are making now, like, $6MM.Add in some Bowl game revenues for all the great bowl games we will be invited to. I can live with that. We are close to making a run at the big prize, now. Add $11MM a year, we build an OCS, we increase our recruiting travel budget, give CSH a modest raise for winning the NBE title and then we go for the whole enchilada. Oh and if we're smart, the NBE keeps Tier 3 rights and we create the Bay Area sports network which pays us another $3MM a year. We can probably even give the student activity fees a rest AFTER we get the stadium built. Don't want to piss off the newbies, eh? They are future Alumni, fans and Boosters.

I see now why they did it this way. The little guys are gonna make money, like they have never seen before. Of course they will vote for this.

I thought all of this was supposed to happen in 2 years. Why now?

Just on a side note. the ACC would only get $4MM per team, by this model. Ouch. Let the realignment begin.

Another crious aside BYU would wind up getting 9.4MM under this formula and ND nothing, clearly there are gonna have to massage that, the B12 teams would only be getting 9,1MM each(assuming 12 members). Humoursly the SEC per team payout would be 8.8MM . Oh, this isn't gonna work.

We can speculate and quote unnamed sources from different sites all day long, truth of the matter is NO ONE knows how it's going to pan out.

There is one thing we can all be sure of though, the "BIG 5" conferences, as ESPN has dubbed them, WILL NOT let us (and by us I mean every team in the country that aren't in those 5 conferences) sit at the "grown-up" table and make anywhere near the money that they will.

We can bring up the stats/numbers of the ACC's record in BCS games, but it's obvious stats/numbers are not playing a roll in the realignment talks and playoff system talks.

The powers that be at all the schools and conference commissioners think the BE is a garbage conference. BE teams could go undeafeted against other AQ teams and it still wouldn't matter.

There is no law that says they have to distribute the money exactly by percentage using these numbers. They could give every conference 5%, then split the rest according to these numbers. Or they could use a weighted system so that the big conferences get more, or less.

We know what they might base the distribution on, but we don't have idea how they would calculate the distribution. If they use BCS rankings in some fashion, the BE will still be in far better shape than CUSA and the MW, which is the most important thing.

This won't happen until after the current BCS expires. They need to start negotiating now, it will take a while to extract the most money from the bowls and TV.
