Do we have to go with divisions where the winner of each plays for the championship? Could it be set up without divisions, but each team plays the same 5 "regional/rivalry" teams every year and rotates 3 of the other 6 each year? That way the 2 teams with the best BE records overall play each other for the championship. My problem with divisions is that you could end up with a 8-0 or 7-1 team possibly playing a 5-3 or 4-4 team for the championship.

I suppose they could do what ever they want.

i dont think its a secret that ive been big on Temple during the expansion process... but clearly BYU is the best get at this point.

Memphis would be my "last in" because they bring tons to the table hoops-wise, and while they are epic failures at football Memphis is a huge market and Tennessee is fertile recruiting ground.

someone mentioned Colorado State due to the Denver market, but AFA already brings that as Colorado Springs is less than an hour drive and part of the greater Denver metro area.

inviting Marshall would be good for nothing other than a big finger in the air to West Virgina.

NCAA rule requires division champions to play each other if you want a conference championship game.

This is better, along with some interesting discussions about a 13 team SEC

http://outkickthecoverage.com/ncaa-rule-makes-secs-13-team-schedule-a-virtual-impossibility.php

17.9.1.2 © Twelve-Member Conference Championship Game. [FBS/FCS] A conference championship game between division champions of a member conference of 12 or more institutions that is divided into two divisions (of six or more institutions each), each of which conducts round-robin, regular-season competition among the members of that division;

Looks like the SEC would be forced into some teams playing 9 conference games and some playing 8 conference games until a 14th team is added.

I think it will be an eastern team and for FBall only (ie, Army). That way BBall stays at 16 and the USF/UCF pair stays intact for the "western" division (but can call it American and National or something like that); less likely that UL (with or without UC) goes west.

Of course, a last-minute compromise could have BYU as #12 and Memphis instead of UCF, with both going west (BYU for FBall only, Memphis for all sports -- satisfying BBall).
