Like Holtz, not the reason for the loss, but I thought officiating was bad

If the officiating wasn't good... Fine... Write your letter but there is no need to tell the media and fans.

Focus on winning conference games

A letter to the Big East about the officiating

a letter to the team doctor about insufficient vitamins and flu shots

a letter to Mother nature, to raise the humidity.

Legitimate question ... what kind of excuses did Leavitt offer for losses?

I don't know you, but you may want to take Evelyn Woodhead's sped reding course. Trip said that the previous coach CJL caught **** for NOT talking to the media. Therefore one could/should easily reach the conclusion that if the coach does NOT talk to the media, then he can NOT make excuses.

if we would have been up by 4 TD's then no one would give a **** about the penalties.  just sayin...

Yup, and we should have beaten that UCONN team soundly.  The officials did not call three straight running plays on our last drive when we got the ball to the UCONN 30.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
