"Oh we get national exposure." The real deal here is $$$$$$. Plain and simple. Woolard doesn't give too shiznits about the national exposure. He is looking for the payday. The fans are not included in this equation, hence the reason why we are the patsies to play on a weeknight. Think the Gayturds will play a weknight game. Not in Sloburban Meyers lifetime. It's all about da mo ney! :2centsJust an FYI - USF has no say in the date of any of its conference games (other than to inform the BIG EAST if our stadium is not available for a Bee Gee's reunion concert or something) .... yes it is about the money, but it is not USF's decision. The league's deal with ESPN/ABC gives them a set number of acceptable Wednesdays/Fridays/Sundays .... then the networks picks what games it wants. While Wednesday is not what anyone wants ... 6 of our 7 home games are on Saturday's this year ... hard to complain about that. Yeah, but if Woolard had any balls, he'd tell them to take that ONE weeknight home game they stuck us with and shove it up their ass .... He's running our program into the ground with this crap. jaym Posted November 2, 2010 Group: Member Topic Count: 0 Content Count: 742 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 10/19/2007 Share Posted November 2, 2010 but I'll tell ya sometimes I would almost give it up just to play on Saturday at 330. 3:30 on a warm September afternoon when it rains an lightnings about 4:30. No thanks. I like the night games on the weekend. Leaves time to do other things during the day Saturday.

While Wednesday is not what anyone wants ... 6 of our 7 home games are on Saturday's this year ... hard to complain about that. you're wrong. the school has the final say. ESPN can ask but we don't have to accept.the BE signed a deal that requires the BE to play a set number of weeknight games but they can't force us to play them either. The mountain west refused to sign a deal with ESPN because they wanted them to play on tuesdays and wednesdays. they actually ended up with a better deal for more revenue and didn't have to compromise. at least their ADs have the balls to stand up to ESPN. Here are a couple articles and quotes concerning weeknight games. Thursday evening football games have been a staple of TV sports broadcasts for some time, and it's likely that when the Pacific-10 Conference renegotiates its football broadcasting contract next year, there will be pressure on the school to put Thursday games on the schedule. But Wise said the UW would consider doing so only after examining how many fans come to the UCLA game, and how many admissions inquiries the game drew — a number that's going to be difficult to quantify, she acknowledged. In April, when the UW made the decision to play on a Thursday at 5 p.m., the Huskies hoped national TV coverage on ESPN would spotlight quarterback Jake Locker and help put the team back on the college football map.The decision to hold a Thursday night game was made by former President Mark Emmert, and most faculty members didn't realize how it would affect classes. About 1,500 classes and labs are scheduled after noon on Thursday, Faculty Senate president J.W. Harrington said.http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2013312549_uwgame01m.htmlJohn McElwain, associate commissioner of the Sun Belt Conference, four of whose 12 members play in midweek games, said his league made it clear to ESPN that they would commit only to a limited number of weekday games when negotiating their contract.“We’ll do it within reason,†McElwain said. “We’re not in a position to do it every week. It’s a strain for fans, student-athletes and ticket sales. You trade one thing for another. The one thing you’re trading to get is national exposure that you wouldn’t otherwise have. If we were in a position to play on ESPN on Saturday nights, we would. There are only so many opportunities, and you kind of have to go with what you’ve been given.â€http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2010/09/01/football
