If Skip takes us to a mediocre bowl game in his first year, i don't see how he gets fired, considering thats all CJL did for us when he was here.

I wouldn't mind us going 5-2 in conference though.  it would be the first time our program has won more than 4 games in conference in one year.

We went to the Sun Bowl and MCC.  Those aren't mediocre bowls. Our performances were.

Let's not count our chickens yet Rick.  Hopefully, we make a bowl, but it is not certain yet by a long shot.  Otherwise, I agree that Skip has nothing to worry about Bowl or not.  He is going to get a pass for at least a couple years.  This weeks game should still be an indicator of what kind of progress the team is making.  Have my fingers crossed....

He had a shot.  His stock took a major hit when he was injured.  Have to admit I'm surprised he didn't end up in Canada, but I guess that could still happen.

To win the conference we need:

a.) To win the rest of our in-conference games,

b.) Pitt needs to lose to someone aside from us,

c.) Syracuse needs to drop 2 games.

d.) WVU needs another loss.

As odd as it sounds, hoping for Syracuse to drop 2 of their last 3 conference games seems the most far fetched out of all the points as they have the worst teams left on their slate (Rutgers, UConn, Louisville).

I don't think anyone is going 7-0 or 6-1 in conference. The real trouble will be if WVU or Syracuse is one of the 5-2 teams then we lose the head-to-head, anyone else being 5-2 we'd hold a tie breaker over. (Though I believe there's whacky rules if there's a 3+ way tie..)

That's pretty much it. The following is from the other thread, but I still don't know if a loss against Miami would affect us or not.

So let me get this right...USF wins out in BE play they will be BE champs IF WVU loses one more game...Cuse loses 2 more games, and Pitt loses one more game + the USF game?

Depends whether OOC games count or not. There are only 2 left. In your scenario, PLUS we beat Miami, AND Cuse beats BC, the best each team could end up would be as follows (but not all of these can happen together, of course);

School, Conf record, OOC, Total

UC: 5-2, 2-3, 7-5

CONN: 4-3, 3-2, 7-5

UL: 4-3, 3-2, 7-5

Pitt: 4-3, 2-3, 6-6

RU: 5-2, 3-2, 8-4

USF: 5-2, 3-2, 8-4

Cuse: 4-3, 3-1, 7-4 (only 1 FCS game counts)

WVU: 4-3, 4-1, 8-4

That could potentially leave USF tied with UC, RU (or both), and at 5-2, and we'd hold head-to-head tie-breakers against each.

However, if we lost to Miami, the best we could finish is 5-2, 2-3, 7-5, while RU could potentially hit 5-2, 3-2, 8-4, with a better overall record.

Not sure what would happen in this situation, even though we beat RU, they could potentially bump us out if OOC games count.

Just to be safe (and because I hate them!) we should wish for another RU loss as well.
