Notre Dame appears to be choking away their strangle hold on the bowl. If they lose to Navy as it appears they will.....they will have to upset USC or Utah in order to be 7-5.

ND's 4-4 now, they have to go 3-1 over Tulsa, #9 Utah, Army, and USC in order to make the Champs Bowl.

I don't see it, unless the second best Big East team is also 6-6, which ain't happening.

ND may have a tough time with Army as well.

The Big East Bowl picture is wide open right now. UConn might be the only team who may not be bowl eligible.

Let's not count our chickens just yet.  ;)

They're 3-4 (or about to be here in a little bit) and they have yet to play Pitt, WVU and Cincinnati. Hell, the way Syracuse is playing that may be another L for the Huskies.

BE is very level right now.  No one is really that good, and no one really sucks.  If our offense produces like it did Friday, and our defense can hold up, we should be in the top half of the BE, which should put us in good position for the Champs bowl.

All of the following assumes ND finishes 6-6 or worse. At 7-5, they're prolly a lock for Champs.

If WVU gets the BCS bid, we should have a good shot at Champs if we're 7-5 or better, since it's in Orlando, and we'll likely sell a lot of tickets. At 8-4 I think we'd be a lock this year.

If anybody else wins the league (Cuse, Pitt, UL), then a 7-5 or better WVU goes to Champs. No doubt at all we'd be left out, even if we finish 8-4 (at 9-3 we might get the nod, but we're not going to be 9-3)

If we finish 6-6 and in 4th-6th place, we're a lock for the BOB - nobody else wants us

If we finish 6-6 and in 7th-8th place, it's home for the holidays :(

We just gotta take care of the games left on our plate.

Bring on the Scarlet Knights! Revenge will be sweet!!

As for UCONN, what Edsall's done is nothing short of miraculous, but IMO it's a fluke and not sustainable. As soon as Randy gets a better offer, he's gone, and UCONN fades back into Big East obscurity, locked in the basement with Rutgers.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
