I don't know how many of you were aware of the troubles with the Binghamton basketball program this past season, but here are some links to the story that drew national attention  http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4504739  and  http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/12/sports/ncaabasketball/12binghamton.html  and  http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/24/sports/ncaabasketball/24binghamton.html

Anyways they scandal may help USF. Greer Wright was a 6-7, 215lbs JC SF that went there and became their best scorer and was 5th in the conference averaging 15pts and also grabbing 6rebs and dishing out 3 asst per game. He proved that he can produce big on the D-1 level. He is looking for a home and USF is very very interested in getting him. He will be a senior but he won't have to sit out so he plays next season. He would start for us and become one of our go to players with or without Jones.

Speaking of Jones with us having 3 JC players committed and trying to get Greer, it looks like Heath is recruiting with knowledge that Jones is gone. I also think that either of the two shooters or both may be out. We are also still trying to recruit a PF or Center to come in next season too. Remember nobody signs JC players to just sit on the bench.

What do you guys think?

Definitely would give us that prototipical 3 size we've been looking for and it would only tie up a schollie for one year. I'm interested but I want to know what kind of player he is....shooter slasher or an all around player. I really wish though that Heath could have found some quality high school or prep guys though like haynes or Melvin

Kornheiser did go there, really tough school to get in to.  Denied me in a heartbeat, thanks USF.

Cocaine charges are minor, i'd be more worried about the kid stealing condoms from Wal Mart.

Jones is gone, even though that thread is an Aprils Fools joke, he is gone.  We are recruting to fill his role plus more.  The more the merrier.  Seems like this kid can play, but what do I know

I do like the fact that he has proved he can play on the D-1 level which is something we won't know about our other recruits until they take the court. Those were pretty good numbers for a JC kid in his 1st NCAA season. Nothing is concrete yet but I really hope we get this guy. I have also read some good things about Jawanza Poland from the OU people. They think he would start for them immediately if he goes there.

Auman's got something about this kid in his blog. Looks like he did some follow-up.

Hopefully the coach isn't brought back and then hopeful of getting Wright. I would love to close with Poland, Wright, and Melvin or another Big.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
