Why aren't we recruiting this guy, he is a 5 star recruit and averaged 27 points & 12 rebounds a game in Junior College. Best of all he's rite down the road in Ocala, guy said he is open to any offers. Why can't we get anything higher then a 3 star when FIU is getting a 4 star?

CSH did try recruiting him. greg posted an article about him back before his freshman year, but ricardo is going to the big boys.  wish we could get him but its not happening.  Stan has recruited toarlyn, noriega, and haynes which are all three florida boys but he hasn't yet hit one of the big timers in the state.  BTW i think ferguson is overrated and is just going to fiu because thomas smooth talked him.

Arkansas is not a big time program and neither is Alabama but one of those schools might get Ratliffe. Arkansas will probably being changing coaches soon and Bama is rebuilding but we can't get this guy who would come in and change our program. It pissing me off that we can't recruit better and if we are ever going to become a stable program in the BE then we had better recruit better. Getting guys like Austin, Dority, and Haynes are good enough. Time for excuses to stop and time to start getting the job done or else. Eloy Vargas is another guy that's within the state and good but where ie USF name mentioned with him?

Eloy Vargas is a joke.  he played like 2 games for uf (granted he was injured part of the year).  UF recruited him because they needed big men but were forced to start a 6'8'' player instead because he wasn't good enough for them and can't even speak english well.  no thanks ill pass.

To answer your questions:

1. There aren't as many big-time Florida recruits in basketball as there are in football... not even close.

2. USF is lined up behind at least Florida and FSU for them, and maybe even Miami. With regards to recruiting, our basketball team is where the football team was about five years ago.

Jaime,

5 is a bit generous... hoops recruiting is probably where football was pre-cusa inclusion.

Diamonds in the rough and transfers are where the stars come from.  No blue chip freshmen.

Football has found some good players on its own for a while.

Well whatever it takes recruiting has to improve which is the bottom line or there will be more gloomy years a head for USF basketball.

I don't need stars. Just high school guys other schools also want. No one wants the 5'11" SG that we are getting (no one good at least).

The way things are looking now, Showtime Haynes will have to be better then advertised or we might be in trouble. Of the three guys committed so far he is the only one that looks like will get the minutes with the hope of producing some winning numbers.
