Big East Tourny Rd 1- USF vs Depaul Tuesday March 9th @ Noon

Recommended Posts

The Nova loss throws the 2-seed into disarray.  Pitt gets it with a win, if not, advantage currently for Nova with the tie being broken way down by record vs 9-8 team (ND, but that too is a moving target).

Still, only locked in seeds appear to be 1-SU, 5-MU, 16-DEP.  WVU might be locked into the 3-spot, but I am not willing to play through all combinations for their SOV tiebreaker vs Nova should Pitt lose.

AP's story on the Nova game says ... "the Mountaineers ... could still be the No. 2 seed in the Big East tournament depending on the result of Pittsburgh’s game against Rutgers later Saturday."

We are a 9th seed as ND will win at Marquette. They are unbelievable.

Irish up three with still 42 seconds.  Don't count out MU yet.

MU down two, 22 ticks left.  ND was VERY lucky to have forced OT.

The 2-seed belongs to PITT if they beat RU.  If not, I have it going to WVU.  The ND win ties GU and thus dilutes Nova's advantage. It takes a second round of SOV tiebreakers before WVU would get it (1-1 vs 0-1 over wolud-be-12-6 Pitt).  At least that's what I get.  Who knows what ESPN will show -- they've been guessing all along.

According to ESPN, Pitt locks up #2 with a win, #4 with a loss to RU

Didn't matter what ND did as they would have gotten the #8 instead of us with the head to head tiebreaker.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
