It may have.  Posts may have been deleted.  Locking threads is a tool to keep things from getting out of hand. 

Locking threads is widely used on many message boards as a management tool.  This is the only place I've ever seen a huge thread on the locking of threads.  Perhaps we could all be more civil and the need for moderation would be greatly reduced.
