I saw something Triple B posted in the Duemig thread, that got me thinking.  So we have a new football coach.  I have heard a few people utter sayings like "Got Holtz" etc..   I think we need to  come up with a cool slogan / saying which indicates our support for our new coach.  I think people would buy into it, too.  Should get the alumni and athletic assn involved as well.

Anyway, Trip mentioned something about being in Phase II of our program's history.   I think it is true.  Phase I was building a program.  It started as an idea on a napkin and ended up with a Division I, BCS conference team, within a short period of 13 years.  Phase I is a credit to Leavitt.

Now we are in Phase 2, becoming a nationally recognized player.  Things left to be done, embrace the media, win Big East title.  Go to a BCS Bowl Game.  Beat Miami.  Win a National championship.  Enter the Holtz Era.

I could see a couple of shirts being created for this.  A simple one that simply states USF Football, Phase 2, the Holtz Years.   Or "the start of something new - the holtz era".  I would like something like that and would buy it.  Also could see USF getting some placards to hold up at the first game along those lines with the catchy slogan (you know, the 24" x 12" ones the Times pays to print). 

Also, I could see a cool shirt with something like USF Football, entering Phase 2, with a checklist and the following items would be checked off or still need to be checked off (ie our goals)

PHASE I

check - create football program

check - promote to 1A

check - join BCS Conference

check - become nationally ranked

check, check, check - win bowl game

PHASE II

__ win conference championship

__ win BCS Bowl Game

__ finish season ranked top 25

__ finish season ranked top 10

__ go to NC game

Welcome to Phase II.

Would like to get other opinions.  but it seems we need to do something given the promise our new coach provides for getting to the next level.

I agree that we are definitely in Phase II, but I feel like that's a lot to explain to the casual/intermediate fan. I feel like the checklist on a shirt would be too much.

But a cool slogan is definitely something I can get behind.
