Football is in a far better position than basketball.  Football has proven success to fall back on.  Skip Holtz can go into a living room and say "look where we were.  The only reason we fell is because of the timing of the coaching staff changes and the way it affected recruiting.  This is going to be a huge class for us and you will want to be a part of it."

Why would Carnes really want to come here when BJ is the established starter and only a sophmore?

The articled quoted a coach from Manatee, Conboy is a Manatee coach not a Nebraska coach, so he probably talks to Carnes a lot.  So, if he is saying he won't play at USF, he probably has heard that from his 4 year player.    We have distance and weather in our favor but when everything else says it's a no go, then it is probably a no go here.

Any word on Sanders yet?

+1

Carnes would have to RS in order to be a two year starter more than likely. So we still wouldn't really have a back up anyway. I'm not saying that BJ is set in stone as our started but, if the new QB coach can develop his intermediate game BJ will be a BEAST.  I say we offer CJ Bennett this year because USF is his dream school and he's a good solid back up QB and then we go after a big dog QB next season.

You need to bring in a starter caliber QB at least every 2 years.  Between grades, poor performance, personal problems, injuries you never know what can happen.  Bring him in, best guys play.

Sanders enjoys visit to USC

By Eric Guimaraes

WR Ace Sanders (5-9 165) of Bradenton, FL took his official visit to USC this weekend and enjoyed his visit, according to his mother. "It went real good," she said. "The people are really nice." Sanders did not commit on the visit but his mother says they are one of the schools he is considering. "He likes them," she said, "but you'll have to ask him who he likes best." Sanders' mother also made the trip to Columbia with her son and came away impressed. "I really liked it," said his mother. "It's a very friendly place." Sanders has offers from USC, West Virginia, South Florida, Purdue, Indiana, Syracuse, Iowa, and Rutgers. Sanders' mother was unsure as to when Sanders plans to make a decision.
