Rookie Lindsey Lamar, fresh off his first season with the USF football team, made a splash in his first collegiate meet, taking first in the 60-meter dash, running a time of 6.77, the seventh-fastest time in the nation heading into the weekend. He not only surpassed the BIG EAST qualifying mark and posted the best time of the young season by a conference athlete, but only one BIG EAST athlete last season had a better time than Lamar's 6.77. He fell just short of the NCAA provisional qualifying time of 6.71.

Great news there, but unless I am confused, he ran the fatest time in the Big East this season, and only one person ran faster all of last season, and he is still off the NCAA qualifying time?  does this mean the BE is slow, or what am I missing here?

It's early in the season and it's not easy to qualify. He ran the 7th fastest time in the nation and probably some of those ahead of him didn't qualify either. He probably is not yet in 100% track shape and should eventually qualify later in the season.

BTW, when Hopkins as a Jr ran against Jeffrey Demps as a Sr in the 100m at the 2008 Florida Relays he was way ahead of Demps at the 60m mark. I'm not sure why he didn't compete, but I'd love to see what HE can do in that race.

Would love to see if Coach Holtz could convert Lindsay Lamar into our very own Chris Johnson. Lindsay needs to add 15-20 lbs. this offseason.

If he wants to make a splash in football, he had better gain AT LEAST that much.

im concerned about the conditioning for track and field taking a toll and compromising his football shape... is his track and field conditioning good or bad?

Carton Mitchell said that running track helped him playing football, but he still left the track team eventually, mostly because it was taking up too much time.

you say "add 15-20 lbs." like that is an easy thing to do.  especially someone lindsey's size.

he might add 20 pounds during his whole career at usf.

he wont be a chris johnson anytime soon but he can be an ean randolph.

we need to get this guy converted to the slot WR
