That AJC article said that he visited USF today:

UPDATE: 2:30 P.M. TUESDAY: Nickell Robey is on a hastily-arranged official visit to South Florida today. Skip Holtz and his staff were at the school Monday. CT. . . .

I'm a member on Scout. It's nothing earth shattering just encouraging. Llike someone else said if it's huge news it'll be everywhere.

Meanwhile, Robey is taking an official visit to Southern California this weekend.

The Frostproof High product has been considering his options since the fall when there was uncertainty about defensive coordinator Willie Martinez's future at Georgia. Martinez was fired Dec. 2.

The 5-foot-8, 165-pound Robey is now considering Georgia, West Virginia, South Florida and Southern Cal, said Brad Metheny, who stepped down as Frostproof coach after this season, but is still involved in Robey's recruiting.

Georgia coaches are expected to travel to Florida today to meet with Robey, whom they hope remains part of a recruiting class that currently is ranked in the top 10 nationally.

Metheny isn't sure exactly where Robey stands at this point.

"I couldn't answer your question truthfully," Metheny said. "He doesn't say a lot about it to me. He just says, 'Coach, I'm going to take it all in and then see where everything's at.' "

DB Nickell Robey - Robey is committed to Georgia, but rumors are becoming more persistent that he could end up elsewhere. He was all set to flip to Tennessee before Kiffin left, and now he'll visit USC this weekend. Obviously distance could be a factor, so keep an eye on West Virginia and South Florida here as well. If things go well when Robey meets new Georgia defensive backs coach Scott Lakatos, he could be a Bulldog after all.

Robey just informed Georgia Coach Mark Richt that he will not be signing with Georgia.

So, it's down to USF, WVU and USC.

He's on a visit to USC.

Wonder if that's no coincidence, he visits USF and then calls Mark Richt. I am starting to get a real good feeling about this. It might have something to do with all the Carnes hullabalu. If CSH is running out of schollies that might be why he didn't want to take the chance that Carnes would say yes.
