Carnes attends Manatee High School, the alma mater of former NU All-American Tommie Frazier. Frazier and Carnes are cousins, according to Joe Kinnan, who coached both quarterbacks. Rivals.com rates the 6-foot-1, 181-pound Carnes as a four-star prospect and the nation's No. 7 dual-threat QB. He committed to South Florida in July but is reconsidering after Friday's firing of coach Jim Leavitt. Nebraska's recruiting class does not include a quarterback. We are in big trouble if we don't get him. We already lost Mitchell to the NFL (if a team takes him) so having to move Landi back to QB would hurt at WR. This kid will go to Nebraska and set all kinds of records, and all of us USF fans will be sitting here crying as to why we got rid of Coach Leavitt. Also, after this story broke on Fanhouse, you can bet that a lot of recruits started to thinking about other schools. I guess in the long run, USF had to get rid of Leavitt because of the cloud that was going to follow him and the program if USF did let him stay. We are just going to have to take this hit in recruiting this year with the coaching change.

He is gone and needs to be for what he did and how he acted after. The students are more important then the coach's ego. There will be other prime players that will come to USF. He has options to go almost anywhere he wants.

It will be freeeeezing!Realistically, you can't blame Carnes. What if the new head coach at USF likes pocket passers? I guess he can do that too, but Carnes is a prototypical Leavitt/Canales QB as a scrabling QB. Maybe he won't fit here anymore.
