TAMPA, Fla. -- University of South Florida football coach Jim Leavitt's tenure with the program is over, FanHouse has learned

The only coach the Bulls have had in the 13-year program's history leaves after an investigation that was initiated after a FanHouse report that stated Leavitt grabbed sophomore Joel Miller by the throat and hit the walk-on twice in the face Nov. 21 at halftime of the Louisville game.

Leavitt was told he was not returning Friday morning in a meeting with USF president Judy Genshaft.

Findings of the investigation into allegations will be released later tiday.

Meanwhile, South Florida assistants were ordered off the road to meet with Genshaft and athletic director Doug Woolard.

In for a tough couple of seasons if this is true, but with a good hire might be on to better things. I don't like CJL in terms of strategy, however you NEVER want to see this happen to anyone. This is a career killer. If he was let go for performance it would be no big deal, but.....

I need a confirmation from anyone/anything but fanhouse. Jesus, we need to move quickly to find not only a replacement but someone that can take us to the next level.

Got a text from a friend that heard it on 620am that hes gone. I pray that this isn't true, and they are just going off of the fanhouse report. Haven't seen anything on ESPN or SI.com yet!

If true, I hope I'm wrong here, but it seems to me that USF will now be known throughout the industry for not standing by their coach. No decent coach will touch this job. Arrrgghhh!!
