haha this is an awesome thread. Yeah, you should strike a player in his face, but after the James situation people seem pretty weak. I don't think Joel would have said anything if it wasn't beyond normal football behavior. Think about it, this kid is playing football for a BCS team. I think he knows how coaches can be.

Why hasn't the player that supposedly got struck said he's been struck?  Why won't Miller talk to Erskin since he went with this BS story to Mr McDoucheBag?  Who are these "other players" that haven't had the balls to come forward yet?  I find it hard to believe that he is the ONLY person in that room that is being truthful.

I think his locker should have been cleaned out years ago.  I think this is a last ditch effort of Colby playing his "I was hit" and Joel told me (hearsay) he was too card.  Something tells me his hand was forced now and  I betcha the investigation will be released soon.

Mr McDouchebag will probably avoid a lawsuit for slander, he'll be exposed (yet again) and will loose his job (yet again).  I have no pity for the fool, his spiteful, vindictive assaults over the years on Leavitt, the players and the university will end up backfiring.

Bull-by-Marriage, I don't want to get into this...but, in what sort of ways do you discipline kids?

There is NOTHING wrong with a slap across the face for talking back to an adult.  Or a belt across the fanny or legs for dis-obeying adults.  There is NOTHING wrong with it!

Calling people neanderthals for actually disciplining their children is part of a "philosophy" that is DESTROYING the fabric of this country.

GO BULLS!!!

I read a coaching book that said you should never "punish" an athlete by making them run because not only does it humiliate them and hurt their feelings, but then the act of running (and healthy activity) becomes associated to punishment for doing something bad and not something the athlete should want to do...

LSD man, LSD.  It's all coming home to roost now.

You need a license to drive a car but not to be a parent, which is by far the MOST important job in this country.

Now we've got a whole generation of tinkerbells, raised by boomers with the best of intentions, but the least of experience. This is what comes of reading how-to manuals written by highly educated ignoramuses like that

Now I know that you are just trying to draw attention to draw attention to yourself. Because NO ONE would be stupid enough to admit on an internet message board to abusing a kid. You do know that it's possible that some LEO's read this board, right?

hbryan, you have no idea who I am, what size I am, what I have done, if I have been in the Military.

Please tell of me then of your vast athletic experience.....quid pro quo tough guy.

Before you go saying I'm weak, you need to check yourself son.

You know, reading is fundamental and I never said anything about you being weak.  I think you need to reread my post, check yourself pops, and stop projecting.

You might think that it's cool to smack kids around, do you also think that it's cool to smack around females?

Wow, someone talks about getting after their own son for football and talking about his own experiences playing the game and now I have become John Wayne Gacy and Charlie Sheen.  :D  You sir need to lay off the caffiene, scotch, viagra, or whatever else you may be injesting.

I mean, that's how they used to do it "back in the day". This thread has nothing to do with the situation at USF. It has to do with you being a Neanderthal. You are a classic example of "The bravery of being out of range" philosophy.

This thread, posters like yourself, Colby Erskin and his shenanigans have everything to do with USF, the situation, and pussification of our populace.  You taking comments about helping a son get from the sidelines to actually contribute to his team and the game and calling it child abuse is the most ignorant comment I have ever heard in my life.  You jumped in feet first, made your stance, and now I'm rebutting your entire argument.  Don't like it, then sorry but that is the way it is.

I am for discipline which may include spanking. I got it from my dad with a razor strap. It didn't turn me into some malcontent or abusive parent. It did however reinforce right and wrong, since I didn't want to see or get it again. The whole "justs" by my posts of "manning up" is this to all who have mistook it. This is suppose to be a team. A team is a family. Families will have problems which do not need to be aired in public. What went on in that locker room is kept in the locker room. So what if the coach smacked a kid? He didn't beat him up and cause physical damage. Yes, I don't agree with the tactic, but the intent was there. Discipline. If the kid didn't man up to his mistake, then hello? Attention getter? If you can't take the heat, get off the team. These cancers are and need to be removed in order for success. Erskine and Miller are cancers, in my honest opinion. I personally think that we are now in a position that walkons, unless they are super athletes, need not be on the team. Again, just my opinion. Just seems to me troubles come from these types of athletes. Again, I am not calling anyone out, but just using commen sense. maybe that's what's lacking today and why our kids do not have respect for the older generation. Don't believe me? Just ask any of my fellow educators.
