I would be very surprise if USF doesn't have any academic casualties.  Even if the NCAA clears the recruits, it is still very possible (even probable) that the school's academic committee will reject a player or players. 

I am presuming that this is a countrywide issue as well. 

IMO before the high school graduates an athlete, academically the student should be able to meet the standards necessary to excell in college.  Too much emphasis has been placed on their "star" standing and potential performance on the field.  The student athlete should be held to a higher standard, as they influence younger children looking to become stars in high school.

I think he means players who didn't get grades during fall semester and aren't eligible for the bowl game.

We've done pretty well with keeping kids eligible, unless they pull a Cedric Hill and get in an altercation during bowl week.

Who is "we" in this sentence? Just because you choose not to <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/news/story?id=4765895">hear it</a> doesn't mean it's not there:

Read this morning that WVU lost 2 to academics for their game, one being 1/2 of DingleBerry.

Did Ford get a passport with his pending legal issues?  Did anyone get denied a passport?  These would be as big an issue as grades.
