Well for the first time this season I sat on the east side of RJS and was able to hear the band clearly.  They are not that bad talent wise, it's just their selection in music is horrible.  They also need to work on the choreography.

Definitely keep the baton twirllers though.  ;D

That song will always remind me of our "queen year".  Hopefully, next year will be our king year (and I don't mean Elvis!)

Not to turn this into a UCF vs. USF as everything else but to make a few honest statements:

1) You should have the expectations that you all do of your band because they give scholarships to at least some of their musicians.   UCFs music department is much smaller and that translates to no scholarships and the fans still have high expectations.  UCFs band would not be as successful WITHOUT those expectations.

2) Bohemian Rhapsody, maybe lifted from Louisville, probably lifted from UCF as there are many ties in the two programs.  If you've been to a UCF game, you will see the source of your pregame.   I haven't heard USFs version of the Queen song (or ULs) but UCFs fans seem to enjoy it and the whole rock show.  You can listen to it on our bands site if u wish.

3) To counter what I said about the scholarship advantage that USF has to offer its student-musicians, I noticed your band doesn't travel to any away games.  For the Marching Knights, the travel is a huge recruitment tool.

How does that work...the band traveling? Whose budget does that fall under, the band itself or the athletic budget? Just curious, because funding is probably the nut of most things...  8)

The band is funded by athletics and alumni.....
