Well I never meant to deflect blame away from CJL nor credit from Cincy's HC but I just believe that USF's deficiency is in our OL i.e. run blocking and depth is the difference between USF Pitt & Cincy.  Plus the former USF OC has discussed the USF lack of depth in the OL publicly is a factor of the October emplosions.

I just believe UC has out recruited USF a bit in the OL and maybe have a bit more defensive depth plus they are a more disciplined team.  Also when I meant big men it wasn't so much as just size/fatties but athleticism is key to have BCS quality lineman as well.  I do agree OL can be developed but athleticism w/size plus development is the what makes teams great.

UC has been one of the worst recruiting teams in the BE over the past 5 years.

From what we have seen so far I think Collaros and Daniels appear to be somewhat equal athletically, but Collaros appears to be more advanced in his decision making.

Collaros is also a sophomore, and has been in the middle of Cinci's ever-changing rotation of QBs for the past couple years.

he also has the benefit of a coach like Kelly.  BJ Daniels is still very raw talent... he hasn't been coached up as well as Cinci's QBs.  3 1/4 years of watching Grothe and it was evident his skills had peaked by his sophomore year. he got a little better at throwing the ball away instead of taking sacks in '08 and the few games he played in '09, but that was about it.

we need some outside talent to come in and coach our kids up, especially on offense.

From what i recall reading, grothe never had a coach spending a great deal of time with him in the film room until Canales took over as OC. Hopefully with guys like Blackwell, Grothe and Canales, Daniels, Landi and whoever else we bring in here will start to receive the teaching and coaching that has been missing in the development of the QB.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
