A reliable source texted me this morning and let me know the powers that be at Georgia are making plans for A run at Tresey....no comments in writing yet, but my source is very reliable...I understand rumor mills, but save this post in the back of head at years end

Tresey will have to get a good raise in order to be kept -- assuming we have the sort of year we'd like to have -- I'd rather not have another McCarney situation.

The real question is what sort of capacity will other teams offer him? If it's a lateral move we have a chance of keeping him (i.e. defensive coordinator jobs or worse). If he's offered a head coaching position somewhere, consider him gone.

...if he wants to be a HC.

I still think he will be more valuable after 2 years here if his defenses keep doing well. He doesn't have a lot of Florida recruiting experience right now (pretty sure Wally was here for signing day). After 1-2 years of building recruiting ties in Florida, he will be a pretty good candidate. You can't just hire a coordinator to be your head coach if he hasn't shown that he is a valuable recruiter as well. Not sure what he did at Cincy, but I know he came into a lot of talent there, and Cincy hasn't exactly brought in the highest ranking classes on earth.

Assistant coaches leave... it's part of the profession.  Although I doubt it will be after one season at USF unless he gets a chance at a head coaching gig...

how sick would our D be right now if we still had McCarney?

Patrick has been pretty good.  And a beast of a recruiter.

Well we probably have the smallest checkbooks of the current top defenses next to UConn.  Nothing new here, we are a target.

You'd have to think UGA  would still make a run at Kirby Smart.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
