is anyone familiar with policies at other schools about keeping or throwing back footballs that enter the stands?  I have seen several times now cops come yank students out of their seats for keeping balls kicked in the stands during halftime.  I would throw it back if it was a USF ball, but this was the ECU kicker last week!

Throw them back, or return them to the sideline. They're not souvenirs....as is the case with major league baseballs.

In college football you throw the ball back because it doesn't belong to you.  They do the same thing in soccer.  Back when Culverhouse owned the Bucs they even went into the stands and retrieved the ball if the fan didn't toss it back and if they could find the person.

Of course you throw the ball back.  Uf doesnt have nets either, and the ball gets kicked way into the stands, and it is always thrown back.

i guess my concern wasnt really over the balls.... more so the cops coming into the student section and yanking three guys out of their seats by their collars and kicking them out for keeping the balls

Yea, I saw them come up to the guy in the student section.  I really don't see what the big deal is, how many balls make it over the nets at our games?  Maybe 1 or 2 a game.  With all the $$ in college football, why not let the occasional fan come home with something, rater than make them feel like a criminal in the stands.

Well, if you were throwing a ball in the parking lot and it went too far and into somebody else's parking spot where they picked it up, said thanks, and threw it in the car trunk, would you think that was ok?
