Grothe turns it over a lot (too much) and is a playmaker, but backup has never played in collegeThe running backs look like they should be goodWR is talented and deepTE is missing a key player, but someone should be able to step inO-line hold your breathe. Can we really argue with that? EXBULL21 Posted July 29, 2009 Group: Member Topic Count: 0 Content Count: 292 Reputation: 0 Days Won: 0 Joined: 01/28/2002 Share Posted July 29, 2009 I think the analysis was pretty good and on point. I think we all agree that MG is a great football player and is a playmaker. But he has not done the things he needs to do in conference play to put us in a position to win a BE championship. Granted part of that has been due to a combination of a poor running game which takes the load off his plate and as we all know asking MG to do to much. I just don't see that changing this year with the issues with the OL. Let's hope our defense this year can cause a large amount of turnovers and give our offense short fields to work with. Without that I think we are probably a 3-4 or 4-3 conference team this year.

With only 40 days until the 2009 season starts, it's time to learn about the opponent's on Florida State's schedule. We'll start with the teams Florida State did not play last year, leading off with in-state foe South Florida. Today we're talking offense, tomorrow will be defense and special teams. The Bulls went 8-5 in 2008. They were perfect in the non-conference, with wins over two terrible defensive teams in Kansas and NC State, and an overtime victory against UCF. In the worst BCS conference, however, they were just 2-5, and their two wins came over UConn and Syracuse. To say that USF feasted on bad teams would be an understatement. Yet voters, who often see nothing but a team's record and not the competition they face, had the Bulls as high as #10 at one point. They would lose 4 of 5 down the stretch to finish unranked. The Bulls were just 4-5 against BC conference teams and 2-4 against teams ranked inside the Fremeau Efficiency Index Top 40. Put another way: Link to full report - lengthy That's funny, considering their three non-conference wins were against the likes of 3-9 Western Carolina and 1-11 UT-Chattanooga in the FCS, and 5-7 Colorado. To say that FSU feasted on bad teams would also be an understatement. And of course Florida destroyed them. All in all, they had two quality wins, against conference foes Virginia Tech and Maryland. If the Big East is the "worst BCS conference" then the ACC is the most disappointing. Ironically, the ACC was considered a better conference before the additions of Miami, Virginia Tech and Boston College. No doubt the synopsis was written with a biased slant. On a side note, I've been in attendance at quite a few of the home games the past two years, and the atmosphere certainly isn't the same as it used to be. Tailgating is still awesome, though.
